this is why i keep posting theoretical wasted space thoughts here... waiting.

i will venture that right now Civ RoM is the single most involving and enthralling game on the computer market. and its (the Civ engine) getting old already... but like a fine wine it is coming into the perfect drinking age.

i bought Sins of a Solar Empire and haven't played it once. I bought Colonization and by the time i have played a half hour i will have exited and booted up RoM.

ah.... the life.

Yeah. Before every update I feel this way. Its like playing a brand new game each time he updates. And now with all the modmods that are getting ready to update after 2.8 comes out its going to be even bigger than before! I mean RoM is what a civilization game is suppose to be like. Detail, variety and balance. This mod has made the game so deep and interesting that each game plays diffrent from the last.

Hey, Zap, I was wondering if you'd like suggestion and comment about units getting into the Late Modern Age and Early Transhuman Age.

I've got alot of my inspiration from Battlefield 2142 and Shadowrun (P&P Version). I would actually like to see models come out for 2142, because it would really fit in with the transition from ModAge to TransAge and even into the TransAge. ^__^ 2142 has alot to do with Nanites and Shielding and so on... Personally, (THIS IS JUST ME!!!) I find a couple of the latter stage units distasteful... Like, to me, it doesn't really have like a set line... I don't know. Like all of a sudden it goes from Assault Mech to Fusion Tank.

I've read a lot of Sci-Fi books and I have loads of ideas for units and once I finally get done learning how to use Blender, I would love to add some of my own models and textured units. ^__^ But right now, I am at the mercy the someone takes interest in my requests.

P.S. - If I finish getting the units a little more detailed, I might actually just post the list of them. ^__^ For all to see! ^__^

I'm the one making this mod... :lol: Last night I remade the fpk files (contains all RoM art files) and now just waiting new RevDCM version release so I can merge it and then release RoM 2.8. Also started converting Megapack's civs into single modular downloads and this process should keep me busy few weeks after v2.8 release - I might convert few more new civs to RoM settings too.

Glider has said that he'll be concentrating on making RevDCM more multiplayer friendly after this new version ie. that means that RoM 2.9 will have better multiplayer support (hopefully).

Have you checked RoM v2.8beta yet? It has quite a few new units for Transhuman era, many mechs and robotic units and whole new promotion lines for them.

I've read lots of Scifi books as well during the last 20 years (from Asimov's to Alastair Reynolds' books) so I could say that I'm familiar with these kinds of topics. ;) In RoM I've tried to keep the units at least somewhat realistic and just recently watched documentary which basically described just the technologies that I had put into RoM's Transhuman era so I was bit amazed how accurate my own predictions were about the most feasible near future techs. :D

My excitement becoming quite difficult to deal with.
Is there anyway you could give us an ETA? No need for a firm release date (that would be nice too), but just an ETA I can use to self medicate my suffering. :lol:

Also, what documentary was that? Sounds very interesting!

Yes, the wait is killing me too. Which makes me want to play RoM, so I do then I play for awhile and then check back to see if 2.8 comes out, then I get excited again, which makes me want to play RoM ...

As you can see its a never ending cycle of anticipation. :crazyeye:

Same for me, only I mod instead of play, so it's a little bit more constructive:lol:
 
I know, me too! Especially since Zap & team have made so many awesome edits, fixed so many CTD & looping problems. I'm so impressed with them all!!
 
I don't know how you guys can stand it. I started a new game with 2.7 and Afforess mod a few days ago and I am having a blast.:D
 
Has anyone encountered these bugs?; I noticed it during the end of the medieval era and into the renasance. At first the AI's were getting "Lion was born in "cityX*"
(*i.e. London, Paris,etc,etc) and as I was gaining tech then started to get a actual lion and the great person bar was in the neg (example Boston (-21) ).
You can't move them or anything else for that matter so I wound up deleting them.
When I look in the city screen at the great person area I saw this sort of thing
(example -18474958/15600)

In a related issue when the city screen was opened up the area where the score/leaders names is didn't disappear.
 
I keep stalling on a new game because I want to play 2.8...

Same here, Im finding myself checking for it usually once before work, definatly once after work & sometimes during work, I heart my netbook & internet share over sprint/windows mobile : ).

Im even trying to find a good working version of either xp 64bit or better yet win7 64bit so Civ ROM hopefully runs better but to no avail, the xp is corporate & drivers are iffy at best w/ most stuff & cant get a non-beta win7 64bit key to save my life...Im not sure of this boards policy on such things so I wont get any deeper than just that but if anyone could point me in the right direction it would be greatly ( & I mean greatly ) appreciated, jmbailey-sprint@hotmail.com

Thanks again Zap & now team for all the hard work & before I forget, Afforess it seems like common sense but after installing your modpack to 2.71 my old stock ROM saves didnt load....Also couldnt find an uninstall for your modpack addon thing but I decided I liked your addon that much so Ill just start a new game but I didnt see it posted anywhere that old save games wont work, that may bother some of the " Me first " want to demand & be ungrateful types that come here....or maybe its just a rare error on my system but thought I'd give a heads up....

Just looked for 2.8....still no fix for me : /

My addons break old saves. That's pretty much a rule of thumb. If you add something new, it wrecks old saves.
