Version 2.8 discussion

I'm not sure my minor accomplishments can even compare with Zappara's, but I appreciate the sentiment.

Also, I think when we look back on 2.7, it's going to be remembered as the buggiest version of RoM. How modmoding even survived, I don't know...

I play The 2.71 in multi with allmost no problem at all !
2.70 was a pain but the last one is very stabile (in multi small map . . .)

:mischief:

I am new to this mod... i played a game with it (2.71) and i like it :goodjob:.

Is there a list of new features in new incoming version?

A release date? Maybe this week?

The mega civ pack for 2.71 will be compatible?

I hope in a modification in religion system (you talked about it) i would a religion found by a great prophet instead a technology.

I don't like the old system with these new religions... too many religions if you play a game with ten civilizations. Is there a way to set a max number of religions found in a game?

Same for me, but I play single player. My only real complaints are lack of stone and marble and the current early tech ships issues. I still play it quite a lot on gigantic map at snail setting and rarely have issues with stability.

Release date is about 1-2 weeks after the new version of RevDCM comes out. Since RoM uses the dll from that mod as its base. It all depends on how much time Zappara has and how much work there is. So current ETA is soonish.

Mega civ pack from 2.71 will probably not be compatible. There have been some changes I the XML structures. However Zappara and others are releasing some as modular format.

You can change the number of religions you can found in XML but I cant remember where :(. All religions should be started but just not by you. This was a feature in one version of RoM but the majority did not like it so it was removed.

Press Ctrl Alt O for Bug Options, klick on limited religions and play on. You'll see there will be much more different powercenters as many nations find one religion of their own, as civs can only find one religion in whole game. You want more holy cities? Fight for them! Especially on higher levels this makes games more interesting, I hate it when all have same religion, even if its mine...

Limited religions makes the game much more interesting in my opinion, plus it makes the religions a bit more dynamic. It makes a religious wars more enticing, taking over religious centres for the riches they can offer..... :evil:

:clap: :woohoo::clap:

Do it, give an offering to the gods of Civ, Zap! Release 2.8 for the sake of the rise of mankind!!!

In unrelated news, I have already merged all of RevDCM's SDK into mine. Beta8 will be RevDCM 2.6, minus some XML stuff.

RevDCM 2.6 is OUT!!!

Here :D
... and I already merged most of it to RoM before going to sleep last night. I'll continue the merging process tonight and I'll should have a working version ready tomorrow, then test it and release for the weekend. :)

Megapack needs updating too as some schema files were updated and I need to check that those civs' settings match the RoM 2.8 settings.

Great, I'm planning one last beta for the weekend myself, and then if all goes well, 1.4 will release on Monday or Tuesday.

A possible weekend release? : ) .... awesomeness....I must agree tho I've had better luck w/ 2.71 than any other ROM version Ive played, except for the resources, especially stone, marble & iron & some others seemed really off....

In a somewhat related note, Ive been waiting for Tekken 6 ( especially, love the Tekken series ) & Forza 3 release for quite some time but I think I can safely say I was looking forward to ROM 2.8 even more...

I wish we could go back to the old ocean terrain.

Ok...I have a confession to make (but it's ok, since I'm amongst friends :eek: ). I'm actually strongly considering using PTO on Friday and having a big 3-day weekend of Civ 4 ROM 2.8 if Zap gets it released by Friday :D :lol: :king:

I had to look up what PTO meant, but that's probably because I'm unemployed...:(

Can't wait for RoM 2.8.

PTO= paid time off.
I work on a "do you want to do X job" basis, and if RoM gets released, my answer for like the whole weekend is going to be "very busy, sorry". :D
