Version 2.x bug reports

Also I noticed a python file (cvaltroot.py) in the rise of mankind directory not the python directory or sub directory as expected.
This is new BUG 3.6 file and it is intentionally in that folder (so that it's not loaded by default). This file is meant for users who suffer from missing interface problem with newest BUG version. Open the file in notepad and read the instructions there...

Also having a problem here:
First of all, I played v2.6alpha1 which was very stable. No CDTs or MAFs at all (as I'm now using the 3g trick).
However, I installed v2.6alpha 2 today and it crashes while loading ROM during init XML. I doesn't appear to be MAF and is an error that I haven't seen before: something about unable to "read" memory. After a couple of reinstalls, I'm not getting the error anymore, but it is still crashing while loading.
Anyone else having this issue?
Clearing out cache during load should fix this.

Please post reports from RoM2.6alpha versions to Version 2.6 discussion -thread. It gets confusing if I have to track down several threads for particular version reports...

I have reinstalled 2.5 and put 2.6 alpha 2 on top of it, then cleared the cache. It still fails to load the mod. What am I doing wrong?

*EDIT* I tried loading a standard BTS game as I read from zappara elsewhere, and magically ROM 2.6 alpha 2 loads now!

I'm testing ROM 2.6 alpha2. So far so good.
But I don't get how The King Richard's Crusade works. You need two crusades to build a Templar Chapter House ? Since The KRC is a World Wonder, how can you build more than one ?
I must admit that I've tried to have a look at those interesting new units : teutonics, templars and hospitaliers, by using the World Builder and adding an "extra crusade". But then, the game crashed ! So I went back on my saved game with just "one regular crusade"... and no new buildings nor new units.

What's the catch ?

It shouldn't require more than just one KRC  Could tell what game settings you had used for that game? Anyway I'll have to check it.

I'm not a newby with Rise of Mankind, but awhile ago it was seriously buggy and so I stopped playing it, waiting to see if things got fixed. However, coming back and checking things, there are so many versions, patches and add-ons, I'm not sure what to try.

Is there a page that gives the instructions of what to download and then what to install in which order?

Giant and Marathon (as usual !). I checked the Civilopedia on the Main Menu, it says Templar Chapter House requires 1 KRC. But on my game, 2 are needed! If you can explain me how to capture a screen, I'd be delighted to send you this beautiful picture.

I might know what the problem is... to take screenshot hit printscreen button on keyboard and then follow the link to screenshots from Beyond the Sword folder.

You already know what it is ! Whoah you rule ! I had barely the time to bath my kids since my last post (Yeah, I have "regular social life !).
Just for your collection...

There seems to be so many problems associated with the Giant and Gigantic map sizes (no Wonder Videos, critical resources missing, no shoreline) that I wonder if it wouldn't be better to just eliminate those sizes as an option.

Start with RoM2.5Full (~138meg file) then patch to 2.52Patch. Very Stable IMHO and very different than say RoM 2.2 or 2.3.

Currently there are 2.6alpha/2.6alpha2 Patches out to test various "New" things for the 2.6 or 2.7 Full coming soon.

Welcome back to RoM's World. :D

got a issue i've been trolling round other forums as it affects a number of the more complex MODs whilst leaving some of the more simple ones alone

i've basicly got no interface whatsoever and when i have managed to bungle my way from the title page into the game i have no interface there and white flags

other MODS it affects : All Wolf based MODS , RoM , WoC (i now have interface on WoC but still White flags after i installed a patch recomended to me)

can't seem to upload my logs here as the files are invalid , but if someone can PM me i'll gladly cut and paste them as they're a bit long to be cluttering up the forum

Are those mods using BUG? You might check that forum for fixes, as BUG is used in a lot of mods for its interface.

You'll have to pack the log files to zip format with Winzip program before you can upload them to this forum. The no interface problem should be fixed in RoM 2.6 which is now in beta stage.

i did a fresh install on a new comp , so unless Bug is in the makeup of the original game i haven't added it intentionally

i've also tried deleting my custon assets , uninstalling Blue Marble which i use

i've got a ATI Radeon graphics card and 2.5GB of RAM and 1.83 GHz

thanks for the prompt response guys

@kuff-dam

At first glance didn't see anything wrong in the logs but one thing I can suggest to try is to run just regular Rise of Mankind without extra civ addon pack (Megapack = Base mod + Extra civs) and then see if that works correclty - some have reported that regular RoM 2.5 works for them but RoM 2.5 with extra civs doesn't.

@zappara , ok , some progress , i now have a title interface on 2.5 and all the game options allowing me to select who i wanna be and a in game interface also aswell as the flags all being a OK

FYI , i also tried 2.5 with BUG 3.6 and found that i had a menu interface , but no game interface , and colourless flags

RoM 2.6 will include BUG 3.6. I'd assume there will be conflicts if you try to use RoM 2.5 (which has BUG 3.51 included) with BUG 3.6 becuase the python is totally different in many cases. Because RoM makes many python changes, mods like BUG has to be merged to RoM so that compatibility can be assured.

Hey guys.

I just installed Rise of Mankind 2.51 Megapack but when I try to load the mod in Beyond The Sword, it loads fine but the new content doesn't appear to be working; the Civilopedia is the same as the original game, no new terrain/religion/units/research appears to be there. It says that the mod is loaded in white letters on the top right of the main menu and everything else is working smoothly. I patched BtS but that didn't help either. I tried removing the mod and using different versions, but the content still doesn't appear to be working.
When I load other mods I don't have this problem; their content appears fine.

Anyone got any idea why this is happening?

i'm playing a 2.6 alpha 1 game. global highlands, massive continents. the world is mostly in the shape of pangea. emperor difficulty, large map, marathon speed, 30 civs.

hannibal had conquered and vassalized about half of the world, then all of a sudden he stopped researching! i noticed that it was taking him about 99 turns to research battlefield medicine, so i checked his capital. he was running 100% culture! it's been more than 100 turns now, and he has finished researching battlefield medicine at that snail's pace, and has begun a new tech with 0% spending... i'm crushing his musketmen with tanks, but this shouldn't happen on an emperor game. this has to be a bug.
