Version 2.x bug reports

which version of RoM are you using? Did you use update or modmod?

Hi, I posted in other forum, but perhaps this is the adequate.

The leaderhead of the Iraqui-Saddam Hussein appears in blank, causing CTDs when they try to diplomacy contact with me

Regards ;)
Since I haven't added Iraq or Saddam Hussein to my modpack I'm pretty sure you are trying to use some custom modular civ which adds those. The modules made for regular BtS won't work directly in RoM. There's few things that need to be modified from main mod if you add custom civ - diplomacy (usually just 1st contact info) and possible new sound effects have to be merged to main mod files. Also the module's xml schema files need to be updated if those are different from what RoM is using.

The Iraqui civ is added by ROME modules that I suppose are included in your 2.62 or perhaps 2.63 patch download (perhaps you know it better), I have not added any more mods than yours (no need at present :goodjob:). I'm pretty sure because before installing the new 2.62-2.63 ver I erased completely the RoM folder and did a fresh install, so sure no more mods.

Anymay, until it's corrected is there any way to deactivate the ROME module to not allowing the program to load it?

Regards ;)

I hoped I wouldn't have to post in this section, but around 1400 disaster stroke....

I use vista, bts 3.17. Rom 2.52 patch 2.6 patch 2.63
Huge map, archipelago (low water, rocky, snaky continents), Epic, England
St as minor, dyn civ, techdiff, barbciv, revol, complete kills, random seed reload, perm allianc,
aggress ai, raging barb, city flipp after conquest

DCM : Battle effects, Archer bombard, Ranged bomb, opp fire, air bomb, act def, fighter engage, naval bomb.
IDW : Combat infl, pillage infl, IDW active city
Inquis : Inquis enabled

I can load the game, and finish my turn, but in the beginning of next turn the game crashes.
Maybe its an event?!? My logs doesn't show anything suspecious (I think) Or mayby its creating
to many civs for the gamecoredll. Have 21 civs now plus barb.

I can actually get a discovery (paper) before the crash happens, so maybe its a building,
but only buildings I get is a forge, stock exchange and castle, all which I build previous in other cities.

Could also be king richards crusade (have christianity)

edit : FIXED
pyyyhh (BIG sign of relief) I could actually overide the crash by letting AI take my turn (ctrl+shift+m)
which resulted in barrack buildings in the entire kingdom, but also let me continue the best CIV game
I had to date. Love the changes in strength :-)

The "Elite Swordsman" quest needs fixing. It expires with the Medieval Era but
for the needed Swordman you need Guilds(which, I think, belongs to the Medieval Era). So it expires before you can even build them.

Hey you were right! the problem is on the ROME module only and it's not added by you, so shame...

Well, the problem is how this avoid erasing if I deleted all the folder...

Anyway, better then your mod at present runs completely fine for me, excepting the little issues I appointed apart of this one. Thanx again :goodjob:

EDIT: Also there is no wine in my game map. Perhaps the same as salt was...

Playing 2.7test1 and I miss tea on my huge archipelago map...

Btw. I know it's not your responsibility but the battle effects show the (undiscovered) terrain above the battle ground - nice way to explore...???

Civic Bug
The Civic "charity" had no display in my civic screen. I had to go to the civilopedia to figure out exactly what it did. I did a quick check of all the other civic choices in all other categories and I believe this was the only one that I couldn't get to display the effects of the civic. I will provide a screenshot when I get home to show exactly what I mean in case I wasn't clear.

Does teh same too me (charity)

And why was the increase or decrease in rebelliousness removed from the civic screen?

Tx

I am not sure if this is a bug, but in the game, I discovered a peat bog in the middle of tundra. I'm pretty sure that bogs cannot possibly occur in the arctic.

Hmmm. Well, I've now given 2.7 a quick whizz and I have a couple of comments.

Seeing the whole civic at once rather than scrolling down is good, but the font size is tiny! I really had to crane my eyes to read the text and I wear glasses for myopia, which by necessity shrink everything, so it was a choice of really peering at the screen to see the tiny font or removing my glasses and peering at the screen to see anything at all! :(

The civic window doesn't seem to cause a CTD just by pressing F3 yet, but I'm not using the Revolutions, Barbarian Civ or Minor Civ options. Maybe I'll try with those on later.

The religions screen could probably be a little wider, so as to fit another religion onto the screen at a time, but that's purely an aesthetic choice. I don't even know if you can change that without adjusting the other civic screens.

On that subject, can the Domestic screen (F1) have the columns adjusted slightly? They're all packed over to the left, with plenty of space on the right. Could a bit of spacing be put between the columns to allow them to breathe a little?

I can't seem to load a game in-game more than once without Civ IV keeling over. Normally, I only had this problem with multi-player games.

@Arakhor

The civic screen issue has been fixed for the upcoming 2.7test version - it's now vertically scrolling and font size is normal.

Domestic screen is fully customizeable by players in-game so you can change it to look as you like. There's edit functions listed at the bottom of screen. Remember to save the changes once your done (computer pic on edit screen). The screens are made for 1024 screen resolution so if you are using higher resolution you can add new stuff to domestic screen pages with the edit tools.

Thanks Zappara! I'll look forward to it!

Hi there!

Loving your mod, but I seem to regularly crash. When I put on logging it hold on a lot longer as if it was on to me ;) but in the end the result was the same.

XP, bts 3.17, Rom 2.62, patch 2.63

I just reinstalled the ROM mod and got the test version and started playing. When i went to change my Religion civic they game crashed. I have been trying to understand it and it only seems to happen when the mouse scrolls over any of the Religion civics. so i am not able to change that option in my game at the moment because it always crashes.

Another note, i tried to download the Download Rise of Mankind 2.62 (190MB) and it did not work, i got some 177kb file from filefront.

A well known problem - to fix it copy the CvCivicsScreen.py from 2.62 over the one in 2.63. Its in the Python/Screens folder.

Out of all my attempts to play RoM 2.62, most of the time I CTD. However, I have also been able to complete a couple entire games from start to finish. I don't believe it's a problem with my free memory since I seem to have plenty to spare when it crashes, however I am by no means an expert. I am attaching my log files and the last auto-save before the latest crash.

I'm running XP Home, 1.83 Mhz, 1024 MB memory.

By the way, except for the crashes, I absolutely love this mod. If I had to go back to regular old BTS, I don't think I could.
