VertNes-Worlds of Altor.

OOC: I'm going to try something stupidly risky and dangerous.:crazyeye:

OOC: Alright, time for the risky/dangerous move.:)

IC: I see the captain running over, so I yell to him, "CAPTAIN! DO YOU HAVE A DAGGER I COULD BORROW? I REALLY NEED IT!!"

The captain gives you his dagger just as Lin loses his battle. His rage has died down and the fear has now broken him. He turns and runs.

"Oh No! Lin has fled, I guess it's up to you captain to distract Enzor, so I can go in for the kill."
Then I take his dagger and put it in my mouth, biting on the hilt to keep in in place and turn into a very large rat, about double the size of the dagger and scurry as fast as I can, getting as close as I can to Enzor, before transforming back and trying to stab him in the heart, using all of the strength I can muster.

{OOC, I didn't take off any of my equipment, because if I succeed, I can replace whatever is damaged, but if I don't, well, it won't matter.}

Jal (if he still can), seeing the Captain is running, decides to flee himself.

Li you don't recover. You were beaten in a mental duel. If you were an NPC you would never recover but as a PC I will let you. Expect at least 24 hours or so to return to sanity.

Khyrdin rat form was not spotted,Enzor was too busy with the Captain, who at this point is mortally wounded. The dagger manages to piece Enzor's scales breaking in the process. It does not reach his heart but it does damage a lung. Enzor sweaps Khyrdin aside and smashes him into the thorn walls. You lay bleeding from multipule wounds very close to death. Enzor flees and the town is safe for now.

What's going on with Jal? I'm not quite sure.

"Arrgh" *Coughs up some blood* "It's just a flesh *cough* wound"(:p)
"I could *cough, cough* use some help here *gasp*"
*sinks down into a slumped position from sitting*

Jal is falling back like everyone was with the Captain. I guess you would want to. So you are with Abaddon. Charles Li has broken and fled to the other side of the town and is cowering somewhere. The Captain is now dead near the breach. Strategos is where he was his demon is still chasing the fleeing orcs. Thomas is with Dailus. Khyrdin is dying near the breach and finally Enzor has fled to God-knows-where. Everyone happy? I know that was chaotic after the first update but I promise to be more organised from now on.

Moosewarrior

Khyrdin's lycanthropy becomes clear to all near him as he begins to heal fast. Not fast enough to escape the call of Untor. Gradualy his soul begins to break free as his mortal form struggles. Soon he will die without help. Moose Warrior you have two choices continue with this character and hope the magic users have healed you to some degree so you can heal naturally (for a lycanthrope) by morning or start again with a new character.

{A little insight}

*He's after me!*

Holy holy! he's got me!

Ahhh!

No... he is gone.... Ahhh behind me!

(inside a winery running arround babbling mad.)

I would really prefer the 1st option, but if it's not possible for the magic users to get over to me in time, I'll start a new character.

Modding over for the night. Revert to offline rule. Charles by morning we will say you have recovered some self control but not enough to fight or do anything stressful or else it is back to square one. Update one will come tomorrow. Cool.

Jal doesn't have any buisness in this village any more. He decides to check around the populace to see if there is anybody impressionable enough to make into a follower. (His basic idea is to appeal to them with his charisma, intelligent, exaggerating his chances of sucess in his plans to found a dynasty and explaining his plans to the best canidates, calling them the most able people in the village as his justification. The idea is that he can get some people to help him on his way.

He explains that his plan is, at first, to marry into nobility to give himself a power base, then use money to raise an army and begin taking over the lands of people such as the Orcs and others he calculates these men will hate. He tries to calculate it so that those clever enough to point out flaws in his plan won't be there.

He also talks to them privately, if he can, and explains his plans (if he can do it in such a way they don't realease his ultimate intentions are to conquer places like the village as well). This way, he can see any flaws in his strategy.

Finally, as he travels he exerts himself by jogging to prevent himself getting unfit.

Aiken is interested in these plans, he can spot a change in the winds, and Jal could be a good bet. He sidles up to Jal in the tavern and suggests with his help , and with the death of the captain, Jal could find his way into an important position very soon, founding his dynasty on the defeat of Enzor!

"I would agree with you, but given my military record in this battle I don't see myself as a contender. If you are willing to help me, I'll make the running, but what can my political assets be?"

Jal didn't tell Aiken, partly out of embarrasment, but he also knew perfectly well he would need the support of the old man/magus, or he was in serious trouble. But then, he could always swear a false oath...

"How about a feigned feat of valor?" he whispered to himself (though Aiken heard). "Aiken, perhaps if the people think I have a greater role then I did?"

Other thoughts went through his mind as well. He would also suggest other possibilities, such as trying to frame the Captain's right hand, the obvious contender, for treason.

Thomas and Moose Warrior

The Gnome ran as hard as he could when he heard the news. Khyrdin almost slipped away but the Gnome pulled him back giving him a massive burst of energy to kick start his systerms and therefore his ability to regenerate. Khyrdin returned to life just and is now clinging on by a very thin thread. The Gnome managed to get Khyrdin inside just about and in a bed. It will be a couple of days yet before he recovers.

Neverwonagame 3 and Abaddon

You manage to convince about five villagers that your plan will work. A blacksmith, a couple of shop owners and a young couple who want a better life for their childern. Your attempt at slurring Commander Kavin's prowess in battle has succeded to convine the comman people, the civilians, that he should not lead. The twenty remaining militia members oppose you. You have convinced about thirty civilians. Now you need to work out how to convince the remaining militia to leave the commander.

OOC: Thomas I would strongly advise you leave magic alone for a while. Moose Warrior you will have recovered by the first update today which will jump forward three days. Abaddon and Neverwonagame feel free to write the stirring speach that won the villagers hearts. It is currently one day post-battle. Date 11/8/7026/3U First number is the day, next month, there are 28 days in a solar month on Untor, next year recorded since the start of this age (there are still 12 months in a year), last number the age and who it belongs to, U=Untor and M=Moriuntora if I put a different letter there then I will explain and that will no doubt lead to a quest.

As I finished the chant, the white light which illuminated my symbol flared, up, only to quickly die down again. Now, however, the demon Vanar crouched in the middle of the circle. With a roar it ran to the edge of the circle. The light that illuminated the circle again flared up, this time a red, causing Vanar to shriek in pain.

At the noise, the militia accompanying me turned around, only to run away screaming. “I told them they should keep their backs turned.” I confided in Vanar. Vanar only growled.

We stood like this for a while, before I hit the ground with my staff, a completely useless gesture, to be sure, but one that made me feel vaguely heroic. Throwing out one arm, I pointed to the north. “Go! Your mater commands it!” Vanar sprinted away, with a face that could almost be said to be smiling, if a skull could smile.

Now I strode through the wreckage of the battle. I was always uncomfortable around a battle site as they tended to be the places where I was forced to work my craft the most. Fortunately, from my perspective at least, the dragon wasn’t killed. Magi were the worst when it came to dying, they always seemed to leave behind a surprise, a demon coming to collect their soul, or some kind of grudge which allowed their spirit to remain, or their death would trigger a necromantic experiment which they had previously performed on themselves. Truth be told, if the dragon caused one of those things to happen, I would have just left. I had gotten a little carried away with allowing Vanar to pursue his prey (in truth I was merely using him to scout to make sure the dragon truly was gone). The distance he roamed was closer to my limit of control than I would have been wise to allow, a fact which, combined with the battle of course, left me drained. Even at my best I doubt I could have handled a mess a dragon would have left behind, as I was now, all I could do is hope I could outrun whatever was left behind.

So his remaining alive was fortunate for me, though of course not fortunate for the poor souls who would feel his wrath when he recovered. Hopefully by that point I would be far away and the fate of those future hypotheticals who would meet the dragon were no concern of mine. After all, I am not a hero.

Vanar returns having found nothing.

"People, Commander Kavin's name has been brought into disrepute, yet his men still stand by him."

*waits for our supporters to boo Kavin*

"Some may see this as loyalty, I see it as stubborness. Jal's prowess is renound, and many of you in this village is already convinced of the need for his exceptional leadership. We all saw how he read the battle, ordering the retreat in time to save as many as he could. "

*waits for supporters to cheer Jal on*

"Therefore, in order to conclude this matter, I will lay out an equal challenge for both men. The winner of which will become the leader of this place"

[To both] Should either of you shy from this challenge, let he walk from this village in shame, and never return. Who accepts my challenge?
