Vicky?

I haven't played Victoria 2, even though I purchase it a while back. However I am still a huge fan of Victoria 1 and gotta say, it's far more rewarding to play than Civilization (more gameplay options, far better researched, tactics are a bit better and the whatifs are common place).

Get G&K when it's dirt cheap, it'll probably not live up to our wild expectations and I'm expecting it to be a bit on the expensive side. Wait a little bit for a big discount on Paradox games soon (as there was just a sale at gamers gate, so you know it's coming).

Vicky 2 is really complex.. Heck I'm still learning some of the concepts (And I've had the game for over a year). But once you learn it, it is really fun and rewarding!

This is definitely true--if you are willing to struggle through a couple games like when you first played EU3, and willing to read some gameplay AARs online, then you can pick up on it. I find Victoria II (especially with the expansion) to be a much more interesting game than EU3.

I prefer EU3 over Vicky2 because in the latter it seems I do nothing more than watching time go by and clicking in pop-ups. Militancy here, revolts there, the English always screwing you and then the game ends. Besides, the whole world is set, unlike in EU3, the game always ends almost the same way as it started.

Oddly enough, that's how I feel about EU3. Sure, you get to pick NIs and move sliders, but that's about it. There's far more going on in Vicky II with your internal politics, government, etc. And since the patching, you don't get swarms of single-province rebels like in EU3--you get a smaller number of more serious revolutions to deal with. Diplomacy-wise, paying attention to spheres, wars, and how that interacts with your nation's economy is far more interesting in Vicky than in EU. I also like the generals in Vicky more than EU3 (take HoI-style combat mechanics, Vicky II general traits, and maybe add some effects of military tradition a la EU3, and you got my dream Vicky II battle mechanics... maybe next expansion).

Granted, you can accomplish much less in a century than you can in four.

In EU3 big changes can happen. For example I played as Brandenburg-> Prussia -> HRE, with almost the entire new world under my control, a large portion of africa, All of Korea, and a few territories in India. Sweden had taken over all of Russia, Siberia, and its peninsula.

 ...uh sure? I didn't disagree with this.

I have never seen two different Victoria 2 Games end the same, they always end differently for me.. But I have the APD (A pop divided Mod).. I mean sometimes Hungary rebels, and then Austria falls apart, or Austria conquers Prussia.. Each game various vastly :)

Dont think Vicky 2 in any way harder than CK2 or Eu3 or Sengokuu

All slow paced games where you wait stability upping unless you cheat into
which you cannot while being mp
