Oddly enough, that's how I feel about EU3. Sure, you get to pick NIs and move sliders, but that's about it. There's far more going on in Vicky II with your internal politics, government, etc. And since the patching, you don't get swarms of single-province rebels like in EU3--you get a smaller number of more serious revolutions to deal with. Diplomacy-wise, paying attention to spheres, wars, and how that interacts with your nation's economy is far more interesting in Vicky than in EU. I also like the generals in Vicky more than EU3 (take HoI-style combat mechanics, Vicky II general traits, and maybe add some effects of military tradition a la EU3, and you got my dream Vicky II battle mechanics... maybe next expansion).
Granted, you can accomplish much less in a century than you can in four.
