I will be shortly purchasing one of the following for £25. Advice please on which would be the best, bearing mind that my game-playing will be limited to the odd strategy game and the odd MP game of Quake 3. I assume Windows performance, which is of more importance to me, will be pretty well equal for each of the cards? (Especially as the chosen card will be coupled with a rather lowly PII350....)

5200FX 128MB AGP
Radeon 9200SE 128MB
MX-440 128MB.

Being at work, I have not the time to look to see if a topic similar to this has been covered recently, so if it has I apologise to all the mods (although perhaps not Col) and would appreciate pointers to other relevant threads.

Muchos danke.

:slay:

I doubt it matters with that processor. get the cheapest.

Yeah, that processor is so old it will just slow down the fastest, go for the cheapest.

Go for one of the first two. They are both newer and better than the Geforce 4 MX.

Hey munzy. My last venture at buying a graphics card fell through in the end....;)

I bought a Radeon 9200 256mb this evening. :yeah:

yeah i got one of them, tho it was the 128MB version i guess.

You should not be getting any of these. I highly doubt your P2 motherboard supports either 4x or 8x AGP, so all three cards will probably be incompatible. Just grab any GeForce 2 off ebay (and the bottleneck will still be your processor).

It seems like you plan on upgrading sometime soon. If you are, heed this advice: do not buy the video card first. It depreciates the fastest. By the time you get the rest of your system, any video card you buy now would have a chance of being ocmpletely worthless.
