Alright, I have been absent for a bit, but I want to get back into things. If anyone has a request for a video, I will see if I can do it. I don't want to do any Blender tutorials yet because of how time-consuming and fiddly they will be. But we will see what we can do otherwise.
If you have time could you please make a tutorial on how to merge existing leader heads? Because when I merge let's say Saladin's body with Ramesses II's head it only shows the body and the head is invisible.

Hope you’re staying cozy and warm as we settle in for our last month of 2020
There are a couple things I’d be interested in exploring, depending on if you wanna go artsy in GIMP or brainy in XML.
SpoilerArtsy? :
For my apprenticeship in GIMP, I’ve been trying to ‘git gud’ at shield-painting. For instance, one thing I'd like to learn: What's the best way (or any way for that matter) to create clean & even diagonal stripes? I would also like to learn how to create simple geometric shapes and patterns.
SpoilerBrainy? :
Or for a different tutorial, if it’s not overly complicated, would you be interested in showing us how to add citysets in xml?
I might note that I’m already invested in learning xml for the cityLsystem, because being the extremely extroverted optimistic go-getter that I am, I put in a request to hrochland for an ancient cityset… without really understanding how to set it up You know, as I’ve always said: “Kung-fu first, xml later.”
Neither of these requests is urgent, and like I’ve mentioned, you’ve given us more than enough gifts and ‘stocking stuffers’ to see us through the New Year Thanks topsecret!

Thank you very much for this excellent tutorial. I might be cooking up a Scenario in the near future, so I hope you won't mind if I have a follow-up question or two later on?

Thank you so much for the joy you have brought to me and many others in the second half of 2020
Since you took me under your wing, I’ve been swapping goodies around in nifskope like a hyper-caffeinated Workshop Elf, in fact I’ve twice now received the award for Santa’s Employee of the Month
I’m also proud to say my skills in GIMP have soared! I’ve moved up from 8-bit graphic design to erm…16-bit, haha. Thank you for all the thought, effort, expertise, and fun you put into your tutorials
So I hope you don’t mind, but I passed on your commendable behavior to your Secret Santa. And it turns out that since you’re so high up on the Nice List, you’ll be receiving an Early Christmas Gift this year!
SpoilerStep One... :
UPDATE: Cyber-Gift received, attachment removed
Merry Early Christmas and Happy Holidays topsecret!
Yay, thank you for this awesome early Christmas present topsecret!
Earlier, I waited until you stepped out of the room for a minute – and then I dashed over and started shaking those wrapped boxes like crazy, trying to figure out what was inside, haha.
Thank you for showing us more GIMP features. I always learn a lot in your tutorials, and I really enjoyed exploring some of the finer points in this Shield Tactics Seminar.
Gfig is exactly what I was looking for, so thank you very much for explaining it. And the combo of fuzzy + rectangle select, clone, heal, hsv noise, blur and smudge – the way you cleared and restored the woodgrain on the shield blew my mind.
p.s. lookin' good in your new holiday outfit Thank you and enjoy your Christmas,Happy Holidays!!
Hello topsecret! Thank you again for all your tutorials. I’ve been working on an Ancient Anatolia mod and I constantly refer to these videos
I’ve also been trying to experiment and discover a few things on my own, but I’ve arrived at a couple stumpers. If you ever have s’more free time for another tutorial, I’d greatly appreciate it
SpoilerSo if you please, here are a couple topics that I’d like to request :
Request #1: GIMP + Nifskope
(This first question is very specific, sorry)
Have you ever tried to add secondary team color to a unit? I know that some Vanilla BtS units have a PlayerColor2.tga (used for flag decals?)… But I can’t figure out how to add this secondary team color to units.
I’d like to add PlayerColor2, not as a decal, but as the color for a waistband or helmet (for example). One goal is to create striped crested helmets by using PlayerColor 1 & 2.
Request #2: More Nifswapping Please!
When you have time, would you please show us how to nifswap pre-gunpowder units from mounted to unmounted and vice versa?
I’ve been trying to nifswap a horseman to an axeman, and again to a charioteer, with errm, limited success.
I read in an older tutorial that some nifswapping issues can be resolved by renaming the NiNodes, for example “Bip01 Pelvis” >> “BIP Pelvis”. This enabled me to free up the horseman and swap him from one Scene Root (?) to another. But as you can see from the image, the procedures didn’t take
Thank you very much topsecret! Wishing you continued health (and success in all your endeavors) this year

The short version is that you have to rename ALL the appropriate nodes in the source nif and not just the BIP.
To do this click on the unit in Nifscope and find it's skin instance. Than go into every single one of the nodes and rename them to match those in your target nif. And make sure to get the names right.
SpoilerExample of trying to copy a horse archer into the regular archer nif :
Doing this correctly will NOT guarantee things will work though as different skeletons are mildly different (hence the different name) and thus units might end up with deformed animations. For a good example try porting Anti Tank to SAM Infantry and vice versa.
But it will allow you to actually copy from the source nif to the target nif without nifscope complaining. And that's the best you can do.
