Not everyone uses the Latin alphabet you know. Maybe you'll also want Tokugawa to be called 徳川 家康?
There is a difference between translation and transliteration; the former is a convenience, the latter a functional necessity. The difference is that between requesting that Alexander be named "Alexandros" and that he be called "Αλέξανδρος". Leise's request, while perhaps pedantic, is not unreasonable.

It could've been written in a couple of ways, I went with the English Wiki version. Erik, or Eirikr Blodyxa, Harald Hårfager, Knut den Store, Harald Blåtand and Hårdråde would be ok with me, and perhaps Firaxis will make a compromise.

As for Rollo, Erik the Red and Harald Hårfager, I don't think either of them will make it as the leader.

Cnut ruled almost all of Scandinavia. And he ruled England. He's quite definitely the most successful Scandinavian king ever. The only other candidate with his merits is Sweyn Forkbeard.

I like Harald Finehair as a leader too, but mainly because of his central place in Scandinavian saga literature.

Agreed on most successful Scandinavian king of the viking era. Most successful ever would be Gustavus Adolphus, wich I must say is sorely missed in the entire Civilization franchise.

So much so that the English tend to view him as an English monarch who happened to rule parts of Scandinavia. ;)

You mean to say that he wasn't English? I'm shocked :D

There was no "K" in Cnut, as Old Norse wasn't written in the Latin alphabet at the time of Cnut. Written Old Norse is based on written Old English, and they didn't use the letter k very often (except, strangely, for the Latin word "Kalends"), but used "C" instead (which was K in most cases, bu "Ch" in lots of others (as in "Scip", pronounced "ship", or "Ceorl", pronounced like "churl")).

Cnut the Great (Old English: Cnūt; Old Norse: Knūtr inn rīki;[1] c. 985 or 995 – 12 November 1035)
