Vitalize does not upgrade marsh terrain

Currently, the nature III spell vitalize can transform lifeless desert and ice terrain into lush grasslands. Yet when on marsh terrain the archmage cannot even cast the spell. Discuss?

(Also, sorry if this is actually a bug  )

It probably has not been implemented yet. I'm sure you will get it some day.

Well if you think about it it doesn't get more lush and full of life than a marsh.

Vitalized land does not always mean "good for people" just "good for nature/creatures."

Good point. In fact, vitalize should probably create marshes (at least in flood plains). Maybe marshes should be fixable with scorch instead?

Extremely easy to change, so it must be designed that way.

No love for grassland floodplains? One of them can feed 8 people without a grain resource. And with slums you can have many. It just takes enormous luck in map creation or a premade scenario. Imagine all that food.

A marsh is a feature on top of a grassland IIRC

Trying to vitalize one would be like trying to vitalize jungle

I much prefer Floodplains/Plains with Towns. Four food, five commerce, and a production gives you something for everyone.

1 farmer feeding 7 priests is bad you think? With altar 3, scholarship, caste system and the hall of kings, these guys will do everything for you. An optimal location get you 160 food for a normal city, 288 for the slums city. A vampire each turn and it gets very scary after just one feast.

You could almost literally build vampire lords. (needs lvl 12)

well its more like 3.5-4 priests once you hit health problems and need 2 food / priest instead of 1.

I am talking about future tech 250+ times. I still get there sometimes.

How's about if the Sun I scorch spell turns marsh to grassland? That seems like a quick solution.

It is a solution, though it was not very quick as I made a huge number of typos at first. I made scorch turn marshes into plains though, not grassland.

I kinda like having another unfixable tile besides mountains. They suck and they stay that way, something to work around.

Bah, once I figure out how to make vitalize permanently increase the food output of a tile (unlimited, of course) nothing will stop me.

The fenlands of Cambridge were drained with large drainage ditches. The Engineering tech could allow workers the capacity to drain swamps, taking, say, 10 man-turns.

Perhaps. But I already made them scorchable.
