Hello.
I'm a newbie and I'm having trouble sacking a city. I've reduced its defenses to zero, but I can't move my stack inside from any angle. I get a big red no-entry circle whenever I try to attack, and meanwhile I'm getting hammered back home. Any idea why my guys can't get in?
Thanx,
J

What kind of units?

Are you at war with the civ?

Are there any of any other Civ's units there?

Are you on OCC or any other special settings?

Also, instead of trying to move the stack, try clicking on just one unit (or hit the disband group button) and attack with just one unit. Sometimes there will be something disqualifying one unit from attacking (there's a machine gun in there, somebody who already attacked or bombarded, etc.) but others still can.

You probably have a worker or scout bound up in your group, which will prevent the whole group from attacking. Separate the group, and you should be fine.

Do you happen to have a screenie? As said before, you might have a worker/settler in there.

Any of the reasons above... basically one or more units are either out of movement or are not allowed to attack (settler, etc). Separate the stack and try again.

You're not using Helicopters, are you?
Helicopters can attack units in cities, they just can't capture cities.

Hm, let me guess...

You have your siege units (like catapults) in the stack, and you use the Bombard ability, to reduce the culture defence to 0%, and then try to invade with the stack the same turn. This won´t work since the seige units have already performed its actions (they bombarded) , but like everyone abowe already said, just split the group, attack and take/burn the city, and then you can safely move your units together and group htem up again later.

Group-movement is always limited to the current lowest-moving unit. (If you for ex have a group of horsies and a catapult, the group will only move 1 move each turn, since that´s the maximum for the catapult.)
