Warhammer Fantasy Mod 2.0

Since there is no patch around (I also don't really feel the need for one), I decided to post this scenario based on my WH_non_random3 map.

It's -2000 IC - the Monarchist League dominates large parts of the world and strives for absolute power, but Despotic Pact, Chaotic Confederation and Undead Union struggle to maintain their freedom (respectively the right to remain unfree ;)...). Can you lead your alliance to victory and save the world from being ruled by narrow minded do-gooders?

:crazyeye:

It's highly recommended that you read the readme I included - have fun :)

Oh, I found the initial source of confusion I had with the Lizardmen. The Civilopedia states they're immune to disease from floodplains, jungles and swamps, and the effects of plagues are reduced. In actuality they're only flagged as immune to disease from floodplains, not jungles or swamps. I couldn't see any reason why plagues would treat them better than anyone else either.

I don't want to start a new thread for the mod simply because this one has immerse amount of views/replies and that is what makes new people look into the thread and download the mod... There will be seperate threads for maps/scenarios though.
I hate to say it, but although the amount of replies brought me to this mod, it's about to send me out of it... I can find no mention of a centralized map database for this mod, and I honestly don't feel like running through all 70 pages of this thread and examining the maps available til I find one I like. Although I really like what I can see of the mod, I wish there was any amount of documentation for it.

Khift, it's only the last ten or so pages that deal with 2.0, the previous pages are just about 1.0, 1.1 and people whining about when 2.0 will be released. There is no large amount of maps available. If you don't like the random maps, do as Billy Rubin; make your own.

I see. Thank you for explaining this to me. I take it there are too many inconsistencies between versions one and two to allow the maps made for version one to be used in version two?

@Khift: As far as I can say, 1.0 and 2.0 don't have much to do with each other. I even had to port my maps from 2.0 to 2.01, because all rules are stored in the .biq, so keeping the 2.0 map would mean sticking with its rules (except for bugfixes like the missing skulls.pcx).

@Everyone who downloaded my scenario: Just wanted to mention that you'll occasionally have to give it some time - in my last game as Sylvanians, there where a few early 5 peasant invasions from Tilea, then nothing for quite some time, AI piling up troops making the turns quite slow with nothing happening, but in 1400 IC, tons of Kislevite and Imperial troops suddenly started moving east, which showed me something must have happened at the border to Chaos. In 1570, Kislev was no more, whilst Imperial, Bretonnian, Estalian, Tilean, Dwarven, Ungol, Orcish, Chaotic and Sylvanian forces battled for Bögenhafen allmost literally within one city radius - and then Hell broke loose (but turns significantly speeded up again)... ;). Might not be so uninteresting to play monarchists as I mentioned in the readme after all - if I'd known that, I had written the introduction different from what it's now. Just wanted to let you know not to abandon it before it begins (the period until 1400 made even me nearly quit, and I made that scenario for me.). Sorry to spam this thread - still waiting for the official map/scenario thread to continue doing so ;).

And BTW - especially for the people familar with the WH world (which I'm not): There's a great "real" WH map in the maps section (which is unfortunately absolutely unplayable slow due to its size for me due to my #+%"!!!! outdated XP1800+...).

Edit: Ack - sorry - because of all the blethering I forgot my only question: Are the effects of hall of kings and heroic epic (or other "chance of leader appearance" wonders) cumulative?

Here's another map for those that don't random ones. It's loosely based on the warhammer world map, although with a twist. The map is a mirrored version (East-West), lustria and ulthuan are on the east side, cathay and nippon on the west. The map is not very large (100x100), which means there won't be space for many cities.
Luxuries and Strats. have been placed as I chose, bonus resources are placed randomly. Most of the factions haven't been tested personally, but everyone has a nice place for the first city. Some factions will be at a disadvantage.
Here's a preview:

Please give me some feedback, this is the first map I've ever posted. :)

EDIT: first upload was a debug version, it's now fixed.

@Lord Khorak
Notice that in under Terrains, there is "Cured by Sanitation" flag that refers to the Sanitation effect aka "Disables diseases from Flood Plains". According to the epic game, this effect also reduces the effects of the plague.

@Khift
You can't find what you are looking for, simply because it's not there. I assure you that when scenarios and maps are released they will be linked at the first post, some will have their own threads. Moreover, the player-made maps will be updated if needed and put there as well.

Again, no patch today, because no one gave me the exact errors. Though as Billy Rubin mentioned, for the majority of poeple (those that have no sound files problems), new patch is not needed.

Still playing this mod exclusively and having great fun! [dance]

Haven't had a single problem with the mod yet and haven't even bothered to get the patch yet.. :D ... especially as I'm playing on the huge WH-map adapted to 2.0 at the moment.
Anyone know how I can use the huge map with 2.01, when I do go patch?

I'm playing as Reikland on DemiGod and can't remember when I last had such a fun game! I especially like the strategic options resulting from the impassible mountains - fortifiying strategic mountain passes makes it possible for me to effectively concentrate my forces on the many enemies surrounding me..

BTW, ED, I second the motion to put up a thread for maps/scenarios - especially when you get around to making them.... (couldn't resist..)

hey ED, what about adding links to the first post pointing to that parts of the thread where the discussion about the various new patches started..? E.G. a link pointing at page 56 post 1116 where you mentioned that 2.0 was there.

I'm sorry to say, i have a found a problem. I know you said that you fixed it, and you have for the Liche I know, but did you know that the Goblin Shamen cannot be loaded onto boats :(
The rest of it seems fine so far, thanks

Bug or 'feature'? Noticed this in a game last night. It regards the civs that can build obelisks. The puny high elves sat on their last little island after I had pushed them of the continent. It was a two square island, on for the city and one for well I don't know. On it they had built an obelisk and put a spearman, I killed the spearman with spells and sent my vampires to land. But they couldn't land on the now clear obelisk square, cause they where not an amphibious assault unit. So the obelisk is a defensive unit then. So I had to keep bombarding the square with spells, first one for the road and then another for the obelisk before I could land and suck their blood.

This problem doesn't exist with obelisks on large landmasses since you walk on it and it is gone, but you can't enter it from a boat.

Anyway, still best mod ever.

Same is true for radar towers in Civ 3. I think it's a feature...

I did not even get the chance to try and land, as I could not get the shaman into the boat. Now when they were spell carriers this was the case, but since this was removed you are meant to be able to load them onto boats, but i cannot load the goblin shaman. As you said, the Vampire that you had was in a boat, and so have i had liches in boat's, but the feature does not seem to be working for the shaman, so this must be a bug, not a feature

Hi all !

Since it's my first post here, I have first to thank ED for his mod... his and Drift's MoM are my current two great favourites !

I noticed something passing strange : I started a random game last Friday. The gods of fate decided I was to play as Gilles le Breton, King of Bretonnia... According to the Civilopedia, Bretonnia is supposed to be part of the 'old world' civs... and as a matter of consequence is supposed to have access to the knightly orders... Yet, I can see neither Printing Press nor Knightly Orders in the accessible techs. Is it a bug or a feature ? ;)

A point I have to madd : I have not yet reached the second era... so it might be that 'Old world' is given only whene reaching this era...

No,no - if Knightly Orders were accessible you should be able to see it in the tech tree from the beginning, though it is indeed in the second tech era. Just klick on the arrows below the tech tree to view different eras.
Don't know if it is accessible for Bretonnia, but it works for Reikland, which I am playing just now.

BTW, welcome to CFC

That'd be a civilopedia mistake, as Bretonnia get their own unique tech that lets them build the grail quest in place of knightly orders...

Flexo's post was not relating to yours, it was clearly a completely different report to yours :p
