Warhammer Fantasy Mod 2.0

Good luck then, Pogue Mahone. This should be quite challenging, 'cause I don't like the Amazons too much and merely threw them in as "food for the Slann" groucho. At least you're playing the map they still have the better situation in :D...

I guess all civs are playable on the maps, but some are way harder than others, Amazons definitely being one of the harder kind...

Unless someone can answer me straight out, for you guys with lotsa cities in jungles, could you check something for me next time you get a leader please? Try and build an army in a jungle-based city. I was playing Chaos yesterday, and I couldn't get my leader to build an army in my jungle city...

Are you sure you haven't reached the limit?

(sorry don't mean any harm, by this question)

..........................................................
You must have four cities for each army I mean. That means that if you have 7 cities you can only have one army.

Sorry I didn't mean to be such a smart-ass, but I did a couple of tests and it works here (up to the limit of course).

Well it wasn't that, I moved the leader up to my capital and the option to build army appeared when I got there. I don't really get why it wouldn't work in the jungle... especially sinc it worked for you.

My test: Four starting settlers (one of them on a jungle square), and a leader unit with the settler on the jungle square. After I built the four cities I converted the leader to an army. I tested to have the leader in a non-capital jungle city, but I could build the army anywhy.

I admit that this is strange.

That's a riot. It's a great-looking map, and what's funny is that when I looked at it inthread here, my eyes immediately drifted to the area I've started and thought that that would be a champion place to start... 'course, I didn't notice the jungle.

You've given me an idea, though... Fortify the north border against the Gobbos and "consume" the Slann... they're underperforming (two cities, the rest of the civs I've found have about five now) and there's more land down there...

Go South! Life is peaceful there...

really enjoying the #3 map of billy rubin's. i'm playing high elves this time on that map and having a great time. that is, except for the frustration i seem to have everytime i play the mod, i can't ever get a wonder built! this time i invested everything i could imagine into building ANYTHING and wasn't able to lol. here i am getting ready to waste 138 shields because someone just finished the black library before i did. again. lol.

Isn't that anoying when the AI finish a wonder and you have 1 turn left and then when you change wonder to another that one is also built before you.

I hate that. I have even quit the game if it is to extreme. Once I lost every ancient wonder by one turn (epic game).

Dwarves in Warhammer have never been able to use spells. However they are the best users of Runes. Though im not sure if that could be implemented into the game.

I reckon they should be able to use thunderbolts only, to represent gratuitous use of strategically placed Anvils of Doom. :D

@Pogue Mahone: Glad you like the map. As I said, it's possible for any civ played by a human to win, but I allways made the Amazons position with the thought in mind, that I didn't want to see the map ruled by AI controlled women - and they never did in any of my games :D.

@move quietly: don't remember making #3 exactly, but I think I made the high elves starting location allways a bit less productive (huge hordes of high elves didn't fit so well imho) and gave them more trading ressources instead, so they hopefully get rich and advanced.

Not sure if it turned out that way - after all I wanted to play, not make maps, so some things might still be unintended, especially with civs I didn't play on them.

Interesting to hear what people experience on the maps from another perspective :) (there's a very entertaining story in the tales and stories section, taking place on #4)...

I love this mod but hate playing on random maps. I have been playing on Billy Rubin's maps and on Rendermad's map.

I especially like playing the non-human races. So I have created a 60x60 battlefield map for the 8 non-human races to fight it out. The smaller map allows each player to build between 5 and 7 cities. Most races are separated by mountain or water to allow each race to develop before engaging in battle. I have carefully edited the map to balance the races. However, the elves have an initial edge. While the Orcs and the Goblins, although playable are meant to be cannon fodder for the other races.

When I created this map, I was interested in the early wars between the Dwarfs and the Elves. For that reason I have given the dwarfs a good starting position away from the elves and stuck a large wasteland between the Dwarfs and the Elves. I have also beefed up the barbarians by using Zombies and Zombie Dragons rather than Skeletons and Spiders. Since the wasteland can't be settled on, there is more opportunity for barbarian camps to appear (on the wasteland) later in the game.

If you haven't tried any of the non-human races, I suggest you give them a go since they are lots of fun!

We really need either a thread for these maps or they need to be placed on the front page. Im just about to upload another map. No Cities in this one just a non random starting position.

i have a map i spent quite a lot of time on that i want to upload, but i have a problem. what i did was took one of billy rubin's maps and did a clear map on it so i could use the default rules from that one. or so i thought! after completing the map it doesn't work right. the ruins aren't goody huts for one thing, they are just ruin graphics. also the default number of players dropped from 26 down to 12, which tells me it got reset somehow.

next thing i tried was loading up billy rubin's #3 map and trying to import my map over top of it, again hopeful that i would use his setup and my map. nope, same trouble.

how do i fix it ? i don't know a thing about customizing. i thought creating a map would be easy.

Here is the Map. It has all civs in it. There are three main continents and some goodie island guarded by horrible monsters.

and apply this to your idiotic comment "Anyone But Bush '04" this really isnt the place to get political but if you want a laundry list of the good and the bad I can go over no less the 30 reasons for BUSH over Kerry. And if you call yourself a stratagist how can you even compare brilliance with bullhocky. Get rid of the political sig bro and grow a brain cell or two. This is a game forum, lets keep it that way.

This is also a free speaking world 'bro' as your 'great' pres seems to want to impose upon the world. And did i ever say G. Bush was a brilliant spirit. And seeing as you have so many maybe you can share some with him im sure he would appreciate it. Oh one other thing i never said kerry 04' just anyone.

Getting of the hijack any comments on the actual map are appreciated cos i would like to know how im going.

Mmmh - the first problem is weird - depending on which map you used. If it was an older version, that would explain a lot, but I deleted all old versions quite some time ago, so possibly there was an old one lurking on your harddrive(?). The only maps I've ported to 2.02 were #3 and #4 , so if you've downloaded them (somewhere on page 80 or so) the old map should be replaced and you should be fine.

When you imported the map to #3, you've imported too much most probably - when you import the map, you should just check the "map" box.
Changing the number of civs is quite easy - just open the scenario properties under scenario and change the number of civs as well as the playable civs if necessary, but the problem with goody huts becoming ruin graphics is something I've never encountered or heard of.

Anyway - there are no major rulechanges in the latest versions of #3 and #4, because ED wrote somewhere that he'd prefer ppl not to upload altered versions of his mod, so I removed them all, except for allowing timber in jungles and warpstone on volcanos, which was needed for these specific maps imho - so basically, you could use default WH2 for importing them as well.

As a Republican, I have to say that Tyrion's sig doesn't bother me in the least. If this were a political forum, I may or may not opt for a friendly discussion of such issues with him, as the spirit moved me. Buuut... far as I can tell, this is a gaming forum, and I could really care less if the fella makin' a mod or discussing a game is an anarchist, or anything else. From where I'm sitting, at least, sigs are freespace for each poster, it does not necessarily mean an open invitation to challenge, especially not in a forum like this.

Oh, and just to give my reply some topical, redeeming value, Wood Elfs killed off the Gobbies and I've managed to skim five cities out of the entire ordeal, non-jungle no less! Looks like I might make a go of these Amazons after all, Slann-snacks or otherwise. ;)
