Warhammer Fantasy Mod 2.1

Thank you mrtn!

Well finaly, one of my suggestions found its place in the mod :smug:

I wanted to suggest that serf unit too, but I forgot, nice to see you`ve put him in.

I have a question about the executioner though, 8/4/2 - iron? Don`t you mean steel? I havent played the patch yet, so I`m not sure is it like that in the game or maybe you`ve just written it wrong in your post. EDIT: Checked trough the editor - its in steel, a writting mistake, no biggy.

... Haradrim went to Ind... Siamese got thrown out... why...WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

Thanks Guys. Good Work :goodjob:

Who knows how many patches there will be, but it's getting better everytime.
I hope there will be a WH-mod for Civ4 gradually as well, but there is no reason we shouldn't play both versions :)

Just a thought regarding the spell graphics: We could change the civiliopedia graphics to represent the different spells. Now they all look the same until they actually strike, but for the static graphics I think we could make them look what they are supposed to be (a lightning, a grren cloud and so on).
If no one else alreasy have some suitable graphics, I could make it up in Photoshop.

The unit itself should stay I think, unless someone makes some animations for each of them (which would look really good :)). The way it work today, the spells look too anonymous (until they strike :))

And thanks for removing the Raptors. Although it were my favourite rescource, it messed up things too much for the Dark Elves. And the Cold One tech was pretty redundant also :)

Cheers

Some ideas for the next patch, already been mentioned about a hundred times, but I decided to make a last, more visual version of suggestions, all in one place... to be updated... If you guys don`t want it on this thread, I`ll move it to a thread of its own. I`ll probably put this in my sig... How can I post someones attachments like some of these pictures? Or does it have to be uploaded to show up?

*LIZARDMEN
Kinboat`s cobra unit for their Jungle Swarms...

Well, I`ve discussed this idea with Aaglo and Gomurr, and we agreed he would fit better for Albion cause there is an albionese DoW unit with two giants, one with a club and one with a throwing rune-stone. The only way Norsca comes in the picture (as far as that discussion goes) is in Gomurr`s suggestion - the Jotun and the Stone Giant look similar, so Jotun and the current Albion Giant could switch places.

What I don`t get is why is the Chaos discussion closed?
Mr.Do said it stays as it is cause Norse weren`t the horse type marauders and then went on shamlessly promoting his own version (:p), and mentioned something about renaming Chaos to Khurgan, but then it wouldn`t be proper chaos.. and mrtn`s reply was again mostly about the Norse...

I think what most people are suggesting is removing the Ungols civ, actually merging it with Kislev ( giving them some ungol-type units), and making a new Hung civ which would basicly be a chaotic version of the current Ungol civ.

Also, renaming the Dolgans to Khurgan, and it going chaotic, is suggested. They should be less horse-archer-type, and more footman. I suggest the Uruk-hai warrior - the armored version (skin parts recolored to human) for the Khurgan chaos warriors/infantry.

The current Chaos civ stays as it is, and it would be, like Mr.Do said, proper Chaos, with Daemons. (Beastmen would be a part of Chaos, and a part of Khurgan, I dunno about Hung)

I wouldn't join in on the Chaos discussion as I'm not that up to date on this topic. It musn't be 100% true to the WH world, but I had'nt heard about the Dolgans or the Ungols before joining the WH-mod.

Regarding the Stone Giant. I think the Jotun looks so much better, so perhaps we could omit the Albionese one and let them share the Jotun Graphics. I think for both ones - a stone throwing bombard could be good.
On the other hand - diffrentiation of the tribes makes the game fun also, so perhaps let only Albions giants have the stonethrowing ability (the Jotuns probably are more viking like - chaaaaarge! :viking:)

While playing 2.19 as Ulthuan, I ran into an interesting error. It seems that the "Oscan Companion" INI file is missing. The game exited. I wasn't aware that WH took place in Southern France. :)

Crap!
Apparently I forgot to include the whole unit folder in the zip...
Download this file! and unzip it in C:\Program Files\Infogrames Interactive\Civilization III\Conquests\Scenarios\WH2\Art\Units
I'm so sorry.

Stormrage, the Dolgans and Ungols are based on an older version of the Warhammer world, GW decided to change the names of the tribes, but I'd rather keep it as is.
See here for instance. http://www.google.com/search?q=cache:u291YsM9MYQJ:vault.portent.net/norsca/ungols.htm+ungols&hl=sv

Besides, Kislev already have Horse Archers, and that's as new-Ungols as you get.

emm, i too was playing 2.19. i went to the civpedia and went to "gaseous cloud". i clicked the "spell" link, then the "spell thrower" link, then the "it comes from beneath" link, but it was an invalid entry. its not an important bug, but i just thought i'd post it.

Southern France? You'd be thinking of Occitan.

The Oscans were an ancient people in Italy, speaking a language related to Latin, and eventually assimilated by the Romans.

Thanks for the history lesson.

What`s up with that stupid Forum database error! It won`t let me post, and it screwed up my last try, and it had a lot of text! I hate it! Where`s my axe!?

@mrtn, I can see your point, about the Ungols, infact it was my own point a couple of pages ago... Check this out:

Dracleath said:
And the ungols are part of kislev, not sure why they are a civ, maybe they could be renamed the hung and also given access to some chaos stuff?

That Handsome Dude With An Axe said:
.. civ3 is an alt-history game, and so are the mods, you can`t make a mod that would act exactly according to history. And so, if they all start in the ancient era, then Ungols and Kislev are not merged, if you play with Kislev and conquer the Ungols, than you can call it "merging of civs"

Also, I`ve read somewhere that the Ungol Empire (khanat, whatever) is the largest (not the most powerfull) one in the world. I think I`ve got this from an unofficial WH timeline article, but I`m not sure...

But then, I figured, since the Dolgan civ doesn`t make much sense (as it is only a smaller part of the huge Khurgan tribe), it should be renamed to Khurgan. Which would lead us to the problem of having the Chaos civ and the Khurgan Civ, but no Hung civ, which is the second huge tribe of Chaos nations. And since Ungols are now a part of Kislev, maybe they could be turned into Hung, you know, a chaos govt, some beastmen units... And Kislev would get some more Ungol units in an era you guys would think best.

One other option is to make a new Hung civ, so we can have both them and Ungols.. there is enough units, some great LH`s to choose from (I think they should get the current ungol one -that dudes face screams Chaos :) and the Ungols should get a new one.), and other materials needed for a new civ... Except for the color... I hate that %!$%!% color problem!

Well I think the hung were only really mentioned in the Hordes of the Underdark book and they only made an appearance in storms of chaos as just allies to the dark elves, so there really hasn't been much on them in warhammer yet.

I think on the whole because of this the ungols are really more interesting and should take priority. If the hung really need to be represented they could be an option for dark elves with the dogs of war tech.

I've got some free time so I'm sort of tempted to do a dolgans --> Kurgan conversion myself, I think I could make a nice civ from them. Would anyone care if I did and posted it here? I don't want to step on anyones toes or anything.

What about that official interactive map someone posted a link to? The Hung make like, 1/3 of Chaos! They are just as big a tribe as Kurgan... And wouldn`t it be fun if you could have Chaos with Daemons, Kurgan with footmen, and Hung with horse-archers? You can play in your own style, in a govt you like, since you can`t pick a govt like in normal Civ.

Yeah but there's no information from GW on them aside from "They use a lot of horse troops and horse archers" and "they ally with dark elves". Unless there's an army list somewhere I'd pretty much be making it up. We already have a model for the kurgan in the dolgans and pretty much know what they are since they're the default chaos marauders in mortal chaos armies so its a bit easier.

I mean I could just take the ungols, make them chaos, take out dragons and add in demons, and add in beastman access and a decent 2nd age unit and call it a day but that wouldn't really be supported by any GW stuff.

Its a fantasy mod...of a fantasy world...its all made up! What`s wrong with being a little creative?

GW changes stuff constantly if I understand correctly... Its just a matter of time before they make an army list :)

And btw... is everything in the mod supported by the GW stuff?

And I think we can all agree that the Hung are just an asian-horse archer version of the Kurgans..

And another thing! If the Birdman of Catrazza unit was created, would it go in the mod? Cause there is a small chance someone can make a conversion from AoM, there is a unit just like it! I`m not gonna bother with the request if they are not accepted..

If you include the kurgen and the hung (replacing the dolgans and the ungols), would there still be a chaos civ? because IMHO, having chaos, kurgen and hung in the game is the same as having kislev and the ungols, since the chaos is made up of those two tribes.

plus, having the dolgans and ungols in it was ED's vision, wasn't it? ;)

Well in play you have the Mortals of Chaos and the Demons of chaos factions which play differently. No reason you couldn't have both here.

And the dolgans as they are now are frankly so anemic in the 2nd age that they serve no purpose other than to either be a roadblock or a challenge for an expert player.
