[BTS] Warhammer FB Mini-Mods

It was instant. Ive had problems with \nstant CTDs before so im not sure that its your mod, but that was only on random games. I just reloaded and did some things differently and i havent had a CTD on turn 233, so it might be something else.

so far i have built the amathyst and grey colleges without issue,
 
the colleges should all be the same as before. i 'only' added spells, promotions, improvements, buildings and units didnt change any existing things.

i just noticed the Celestial can still cast tsunami. ill remove that in the next patch.

It'll still take several weeks until I can get back to xml modding(those few days I get before christmas I'll definitly need for animations). So if you like please feel free to add the new modelstuff here. Also any model, button you see fit. Just document anything (especially small changes) in a changelog. This will make it easier to merge for me later with the main mod.;)

i honestly have no idea what causes it, or how to fix it. it started when i tried to make new improvements and features for the spells. so i tried removing those features and improvements, but no change... i think the problem MUST be in there, but im buggered if i know where :( (Im still an amature modder. really need help with fixing this bug.)

Im going to post a patch a bit later. i first want some more issues addressed and more bugs and unbalances found. the main priority for patch a is bugs. anything that looks like it shouldt be there, anything that doesnt do anything pyhton acceptions, errors etc.

The "Version 1.1" link leads to a file named "spell mod patch a"? While the patch a link leads to a file named "Colleges"?
Names of files are no problem if the order of downloading and applying them is correct.
One problem with the first file however is that rather than including a folder named ?"mods" it has "mods - Copy"?

I will just give it a run now. Thanks a lot for your hard work.
 
The version 1.1 link gives a "No file found" error.
Was the files switched in the links of yesterday? I am asking because if this was the case I might only need to apply patch a for the mod to work properly. Right now I just get a punch of XML errors on loading. There is only one python exception:

File "CvRandomEventInterface", line 489, in doTraitInsane
UnboundLocalError: local variable 'iRand3' referenced before assignement.
 
:blush: ok, now they're REALLY fixed. i checked them this time ;)

both files are new uploads, but the content has not been changed. (besides fixing the file names)

I also get 3 XML errors on startup but they dont appear to affect gameplay. i still cant find their cause.

The do TraitInsane error should be fixed when Ploe comes back. that is beyond me as it requires more advanced modding skills than mine :)

Hi there, Llama. Here are a some python errors I got in my last testing game.
This is with version 1.1, patch a. I post the errors here, because I have your modmod installed over the regular Warhammer version.

I realy would liked to be of any help with this mod because I love the Warhammer world, but my english is tooooo bad.

I don't understand where all the hobby-modders hide? I would have helped you whith programming if I could, but python is like greek to me.

The one that says "LaniphCaress" is a bug with one of my spells, that will be fixed in the next patch.

the ones that say "doTraitInsane" are part of a bug that should be fixed when Ploeperpengle comes back to modding. im not good enough yet to figure that one out (though ive tried)

keep 'em comming :D


another patch for the magic mod is in the works, but i need more errors to be found before i release it. it will add Chaos magic (slaanesh, Tzeenthc and Nurgle) i also intended to add Waaagh! magic, but those spells look much more difficult to change into a civ friendly format. it will need some more advanced coding i think... however the main mod will not have a new patch untill Ploe returns :(

as for your help, any, and all help is welcome :D if you dont want to try learning Python or XML (though XML is quite simple, there are some great tutorials out there), then play testing is really very important, because we need to find all the bugs that hide in weird places. or, if you have any skill at art, you can try your hand at making buttons, and even 3D modding if you're really enthusiastic.
also, we still need as much feedback from the enjoyability of the mod from the community as possible so ideas, oppinions and criticism is in desperate need.
 
The python error "LaniphCaress" started when i upgraded a mage to Dark Magic 3. Now i get it every single turn. Both when it is about to move, and when it has moved.

I have big trouble figuring out what all the spells actually do. :confused: If you could give some hints. Maybe in the first post...

BIG error! I cannot continue play this, it freeze the game when i try to go inside a city. It started when a city finished "Celestrial College" and i wanted to build three celestrial mages from the cityscreen.

Edit: After a bit of research i finded out i even could not reload an autosave 16 turns before the atached save. So maybe the college is not responsible. But i could restart with a new game. Thats positive. :clap:

Oh No... not THAT error again... i thought i had fixed that (i ended up re writing the whole thing from scratch)

ive tired to load that save, but it dosnt load. are you sure you have the latest version? (try redownloading version 1.1 and patch a)


EDIT: see the first post for Civilopedia spell descriptions that i am working on. (please point out if i have made any mistakes :) )

About THAT error, any info about what may cause it? A wonder, maybe? Or a unit? A building, a civ, a tech or a button?? :hammer2:

Edit: I got the "Oh no, not THAT error" again. In turn 59! So no magic colleges could be responsible. :dunno:

Yesterday it was with Dark Elves. Today with Lhamia. But i have played with Woodelves and High Elves before. Both games more than 400 turns and not seen it.

was that the first time you went into the city screen that game? because when i had the problem before it would crash EVERY time i went into the city screen (and sometimes i dont use the city screen at all untill turn 100 or so). perhaps i only partially fixed it? (i havent had that error on my version since i redid it all, and your save wouldnt load on my machine which is what made me suspect you had a differetn version.)

honestly i have no idea what the cause is. it must have something to do with the spells im putting in because this error hadnt happened before i started modding. and id hazard a guess that it could be because of the Pit of Shades and Rainstorm improvements, or possible the Portal of hysh building (because these also caused a similar error in the worldbuilder at the same time as THAT error, then i redid the lot which 'fixed' it).

just keep at what your doing :) its a huge help :) (thanks for that latest bug btw, ill look into it)
