Warlords Patch 2.13 Released!

It took awhile, but after I got it working the patch has probably saved me from buying a new computer. Before my PC would have random crashes around 500AD in some games, and always when I tried OCC. At least after several hours of gameplay last night I had not problems with a game that had crashed on me about 4 times.

Your question makes me think you didnt actually install it, but run ran the downloaded file.
When you run the downloaded file, it creates a directory that you specify.
After it does this, you have to manually go to this place, and run the DXSETUP.exe program there to actually install it

OMG I'm so stupid:blush: ... thank you so much, it works now:D

Just got a new computer which runs Vista. Installed Civ4 and Warlords on Saturday 19th and installed patch from in-game menu. No problems whatsoever running game, but noticed that (a) GP bar mouseover did not show remaining turns, which it does on my previous 2.08 installation on my old computer, (b) second earned GG comes at 75 points not 60 (I've had this happen earlier), and (c) Isabella is running Theocracy with no state religion.
I have just installed 2.13, which if it does address these issues it does not do retrospectively, that is, any changes don't affect existing games - and a good thing too.

Does anyone know if there is a problem with the direct to drive patch? I have the original on cd and warlords on direct to drive. I downloaded the patch from D2D and the patch will not update the game. Any help?
I think you will have to first download and install the normal vanilla patch, then use the d3d patch for warlords
(this is because d2d warlords patch will see that you have unpatched vanilla installed, and attempt to patch it up.. but fails because you dont have the d2d version of vanilla)

Bah. None of the patches work. Had to uninstall everything and revert back to 1.61 and 2.08--whatever it's alleged to fix isn't worth the effort.

The brazilian version doesn't work with the patch. We have to wait until the stupid publisher releases a special patch for us...

Or until some generous soul provides a no-cd .exe somewhere else in the net, which still hasn't happened, as far as I know. Until one of these conditions is met, I won't be able to join the WOTM competition run by the fine admins of this site. :(

Another victim of the incompetence of the local distributors. :(

I have hard copy of the Civ 4 patched up to 1.74; I got Warlords off of Direct 2 Drive; then downloaded BTS off D2D as well, but that setup could not update Warlords in order to install; so I downloaded the patch off the D2D site. After running that setup, the program cashes shortly after it detects my Civ 4 1.74, and the message reads "Patch installation failed! Aborting installation." Any ideas?

I've downloaded the 2.13 patch and it's insisting i don't have Warlords installed even though i downloaded it into the Warlords directory. Is this because I have a D2D version of warlords? Do I need to dl it from the D2D site?

I have a localised Russian version of Civ4 and warlords. That version of warlords already was patched to 2.0.8 on release. But as I download the 2.13 patch - it doesn't see warlords installed....what's the problem here?=(

I bought Warlords recentlyas wife ask why I had not played Civ IV in awhile, when I downloaded 2.13 patch it worked fine and the game was a once or twice a week excursion.

This past weekend the annual reformat was scheduled and completed, I download the patch from firaxis site and get the dll message and I try to update from the game and the download freezes anywhere from 1% to 44% and screen sits there and grows old with me. I was lucky enough to get the 2.08 patch downloaded and it worked.

I read the post about Direct X not having the file, I wasn't sure if I had upgraded that after reformat so I did so.

Now wish me luck as we have another go at it.

Pleasure to finally have found such a comprehensive Civ site, Thanks for all the info, more questions to come later I am sure as I explore the MODS and how to make them work in the game.

Update.. easier then reposting... even after Direct X update 2.13 patch from firaxis gives dll error message and game update still freezes...

Sorry for the saga Gents, I read the post about the SDK update that was made to get the patch to work and went in search of that, I found the update if you search at Microsoft is a download that is approx. 435 mb large. You know life is good and you are really addicted to a game if you will download 435 mb to get a 75 mb or so patch to work. I looked into the .net framework installs as well and downloaded ver 1.1 and the patch for that as well which totals approx 60 to 70 mb I forget already, those don't work either.... I believe it will all come down to uninstall and install to ver 2.08 until either Microrich or firaxis figures a way to include it in an upcoming patch to 2.whoknowswhat.

Please forgive any underlying sarcasm as the hr and a 1/2 I spent looking only has me lightly frustrated and looking for the blood pressure meds.....

Meh, I patched Warlords to 2.13 and it works normally. But when I load my mod and want to start a game, it crashes just after clicking "Launch". Could anyone give me directions where I should look?

OK How do I go back top patch 2.08?

Please write the instructions so they are idiot proof. Assume I know nothing about how Civ IV works.

I can no longer play some mods and its is very, very annoying!

I think you will have to first download and install the normal vanilla patch, then use the d3d patch for warlords
(this is because d2d warlords patch will see that you have unpatched vanilla installed, and attempt to patch it up.. but fails because you dont have the d2d version of vanilla)

Ill give that a try, thanks.

I've spent over 8 hours trying to get Civ 4 running after the new (for civ 4 and warlords) patch, and counting.

Unless you have Windows Vista with latest version of Direct X, your game may not work once you install the update.

I've had to manually download and install the missing Direct X .dll files because they did not automatically install on my windows xp professional, using either validated web runtime or manual download of Direct X 9c. (53 mb download and 73 mb download respectively)

supposedly the SDK has all the .dll's but thats over 400 mb download. Googling the "missing 'nameof.dll' " will get you links for manual download.

Manuall install of missing .dll files worked, but now I have the same "Error loading shader libraries" during startup. Any ideas?

NOTE: If you Downloaded Warlords from Direct-2-drive, you have to get the patch from Direct-2-drive. I had major issues with the forum-based patch. The d-2-d patch worked perfectly.

Does anyone know what to do.
When I tried to get the patch I downloaded it, then I installed it, but when I click to play it, It just says " This application failed to start because D3DX9_32.DLL or something like that couldn't be found.:( Can anyone help or should I just give up.

Also, will the CivIV hall of fame accept games on a previous patch like 2.00.
