Warlords Patch Suggestions

Make obtaining Bueroucracy impossible to get with Oracle-Prophet jump - that's way too powerful combination in MP, granting almost certain win due to skyrocketing economy/research/military of player.
Also, to represent artillery duels possability of such ability will be neat:
If artillery attack stack with artillery only artillery is damaged and do not suffer collateral damage. once only one artillery in attacked stack remain other units suffer collateral damage as before.
That at least somehow can solve Catamass tactics.
And some promotions' changes:
- Woodsmen I get additional +50% forest squares attack, +75% jungle squares attack.
- Woodsmen II get additional +75% forest squares attack, +100% jungle squares attack.
- Mountaneer I and II similar to Woodsmen promo.

not that early in promotions. thats too early to give high value attacks. i liked the hill III gave the attack bonus, i just want to see a woodsman equivilant as its badly needed

My sugguestion would be updating the graph for those of us that are color blind so that we can actually use the graph. For example, placing the civ name or an abbreviation of the name on the graph line. The legend does not help.

I m very surprised not yet have seen some scenarios-adding request for the patch so i do : only 8 scenarios to play in warlords ,it's very poor!! Please add some more(maybe 5 or 6) Thanks to all of you who make live the game by uploading files for community. Sorry for my approximative grammary.I'm french so it' s not too easy to post in english!

Along the same line that would probably address this:

The ability to toggle on/off civs that you do/don't want to see displayed on the graph. Playing with 23 civs and looking at the Power comparisons is akin to those puzzle games where you stare at them for 2 minutes to reveal the answer! :crazyeye:

^agreed.
like the guerilla promotion idea, the celtic UU is way too
specialised. why use swordsmen to defend hills?
It's redundant, too. Seeing as Celtic UB (can't remember the name right now.. replaces walls) hands out Guerilla I like sweeties, what great benefit does the UU impart?

Now if they had +10% hill attack, they would rule.

Love Judge Dee's fort ZOC idea btw.

Firaxis, fix the Chinese Unification Scenario! We are supposed to be able to build gallies adjacent to rivers and send them down rivers to bombard enemy cities...But we can't! You really shouldn't lie like that when you make stuff. It REALLY needs to be fixed. Please?

RE. why dont u go to war with a faction that controls a sea port, and use it to build your precious galleys.

How about this:
Making anyone into your vassal via their capitulation should automatically END any wars involving that vassal. That way, if say, you were fighting along side another ally civ and you keep the enemy as your vassal you don't automatically declare war on your ally simply because they were at war with the enemy when you "vassalized" them.

This is already the case. Only when a weak power offers itself as a vassal to another power do wars in which it is involved remain valid. If a civ capitulates, it adopts the master's war/peace relations.

Because your supposed to be able to build them in rivers but you can't. If you could then you could use the navigable rivers to your advantage, and the scenario would be much more authentic to the era. Hasn't anyone else complained about this too?

I think a simple optional bar chart (with names on the x axis) would solve this problem, as while it a nice touch to see how things have changed over the ages, all you really care about is the "now" when consulting the graph.

@turquoiseninja

this is all becuase of the coast tiles. becuase they are all coast, and land locked by cities (they are on land so it is landlocked) these 'rivers' are treated as fresh water lakes. i dont know which XML file can change this. so your best bet is to go hunting for it. like Terrains maybe.

Yeah, I know its because theyre fresh water and not technicaly coast. But why did Firaxis let this happen to begin with? Its supposed to be a major part of the scenario, how the frak did they miss it in playtesting?

FIRAXIS, PLEASE, FIX THE CHINESE UNIFICATION SCENARIO! PLEASE!

Monuments should not be obsoleted by calendar.

With the change from "obelisk" to "monument", it doesn't make sense anymore for Calendar to obsolete them. After all, a nice monument is still a cultural boon here in 2006!

(Stonehenge should still be obsoleted.)

Expansive:
+50% Worker production. Health bonus reduced to +2
or
+1 food at 3 food tile. Health bonus reduced to +2
Charge promotion(+25% vs siege) get additional -20% collateral damage.
Explorers get Sentry by default.
City Garrison III get additional -15% collateral damage.
Formation (+25 vs mounted) reduce enemy withdraw chance by 5%

Fort
Provide healing of 10% per turn, 15 or 20% after research of Engeneering.
Provide Zone of Control and +1 visiblity after discovery of Optics.

City Ruins upon clearing(must be long) provide by chance:
- Survivors: 2 Workers or Settler.
- Gold.
- Technology of razed civ if you don't have one(Small chance).
- Guerillas: Hostile warriors according to age(like after drafting) with three promotions

So Dionysius, do you know HOW to change the XML so gallies can go in the fresh water rivers? I think that is the most important thing for Firaxis to fix in the Warlords patch. And Phyr_Negator, nice ideas, especialy the city ruins. I always thought they should actually do something...
