Warlords: Version 2.08 works only in other people's accounts

I am using Warlords v. 2.08 and encountering a crash problem. Sometimes it takes place upon saving or upon ending a turn, but occasionally it occurs in the middle of a turn. It happens at any stage of the game and crashes -- not to the desktop but to a blue screen. In some games I cannot make five moves before it crashes. I'm using a P-4 2.66 GHz processor, 512 MB RAM, and a Radeon 9700 video card with 128 MB video RAM; Windows XP, SP-2, with fast user-switching disabled. The problem seems to become progressively worse the more I play Warlords. Somehow, though, if I open another family member's user profile, the problems seems to go away. It was installed from my profile, BTW. Is there any kind of .ini setting or anything else I could change to fix this, or do I need yet another patch? Please reply if you have any insight on this. Poke your drivers. Change which drivers you have running (ie, update them with newer ones).

Do you have antivirus software installed? I've been having problems with the scanning of the latest McAfee patches.

Another possibility is hardware problems: often memory or HDD sectors that aren't playing nice. I've known people who had suspected this, and managed to show it. Forgot what utilities they used.
