Warmongering - what levels do you play

I have been playing Civ Iv and warlords for a bit and still enjoy going for a conquest victory.

On chieftain and warlord its usually do-able. On noble I usually start with a kill em all philosophy but then have to settle to for a time victory.

On higher levels it seems you have to be more defensive and keep out of trouble. Is that the general experience elsewhere.

How many of you nobles, princes, monarch and emperors expect to win on a conquest victory

The general consensus is that the higher the level you play at, the more of a warmongerer you have to be, and the earlier you need to start your first war.

I play Deity and start my first war with a single warrior.

Conquest is rare though, as domination usually comes in earlier.

I play Prince and I find Conquest doable in maybe 75% of the maps. But domination is sooo much easier...

Depends on map size but i play emporer level+ and theres very few extended periods of time where im not warring.
