WARNING: BtS Version 3.19

If you intend to play current or upcoming BOTMs, or you are playing in an SGOTM 09 team, DON'T update your current working version of Beyond the Sword.

If you want to play 3.19 for other purposes, you should make a COPY of your existing 3.17 installation and upgrade that to 3.19, creating a dual installation.

We'll need a new HoF Mod before we can offer xOTMs running 3.19, so this will not happen over night. Watch this space.

You have to reinstall, at the bare minimum, BtS I would suspect.
It might work just reinstalling 3.17, but I don't know.

Presumably no one these days bothers with backups! I'm not an expert on Windows, but are there things called Restore Points that you can roll back to?

If you're a Steam user like me then the update will be applied automatically. This seems to happen even if you select "do not keep up-to-date" in the game properties menu.

The only answer I have found is to launch Steam, go to the My Games list, wait until the update has started downloading then right click on the BTS entry and select "pause update". The download won't resume until you tell it to, even after Steam or system restarts.

Well it looks like my goose is cooked. I tried installing from scratch on a different machine and it automatically downloaded the lastest patch during the installation process. I am going to try a reinstall on my main PC but disconnect it from the internet first.

Alan, I do regular back-ups by only of the My Documents, those are the crucial files, all software can be reinstalled from original disks, or re-downloaded. I have had to do this when I F-disk. Restore points do exist, but for some reason I have never been able to get my PC to restore one. It always fails.

I shall have to remember my proverbs. "Look before you leap".

I think the one time I have needed to use a restore point, it actually worked, and saved me some headaches.

But of course, an anecdote is not data ...
