if my game crashes or i have a power problem how can i prove that??
I don't recall that we've ever asked for proof.

ok, i have an other question.you write that you can understand the load time from the last 2050sav. file.if i load another save not the same game but the same name(like EminC of the mayas 1000BC) for comparing the games ,can you understand the differences beetween these loads??

10 character limit. I think.
Yes. (plus additional characters to get past the ten character limit, aka +xcl)

While I'm posting here, I just wanted to note that even though the new reload policy doesn't technically go into effect until this weekend, numbers in recent submissions have considerably improved and are already inline. Nice adaptation everyone! :goodjob:

you know that all you have to do is fill in with spaces between the last world and the . to get encough chars? like if you want to type just yes.. then 'yes(6 spaces).' :p

Superslug,

I'm starting to milk my game now and it has been taking me about 3 hours per turn to relocate my cities; so I basically I can do only 1 turn per day (may be 2), is that within the acceptable range?

PS: Since I had played less than 10 sessions between 4000BC to 700AD, I expect my reload counter has been very low so far, but it will be sky high during the milking phase.

You're over 30 minutes per session. Simple as that. ;)

Erm im just wondering how you can tell how many reloads someone does on a game ? Does it actually tell you that. The only thing im aware of is the total time at the end of the game. Ive seen games in which i was suspicioues of multiple reloads but didt say anything simply beacause i wouldnt be able to prove it anyway.

Yes, you can! They are doing that at the GOTM.

But that leaves an ugly period. It is better to borrow TLC's null image to use that.

There are some utilities we use in the HOF and GOTM that can read .sav files and extract all sorts of information from them. These aren't publicly available though.

Not being available is not a prob to me, what would i need them for ? Just curioues thanks for the response.

The utilities certainly help. What really makes the job easy are your crystal ball and my psychic powers. Space occasionally dabbles in tarot cards.

Not very conventional vetting procedures, but they work. Also, they leave much more pleasant aromas in the air then those strange incenses they burn over at GOTM.

I only have the original Civ3 with no time counter, but how can you tell if a person has played enough between reloads? For example, I am having a good time beating on one of the AI opponents, I have about 25 samurai and a bunch more support units. It took me 45 minutes to play from 1000 to 1070 AD. I thought I would have about a half hour more, I usually won't bother to start if I can't have at least an hour to play. To my point, I took 45 minutes for 7 turns. Another player might take more or less and save after seven turns. Will the reload counts be different?
Thanks

We've got lots of example games on record in the HOF that give us a good idea how long players normally take per turn at different phases in the game. We can take account of this when vetting Civ3 games. From what you're saying it sounds like your game is completely normal, go back to the fun with your Samurais (just one more turn)!

Hi, again. Sorry to bump this back up but I've just recently upgraded to C3C, and now have my timer ticking away as my game is on. I understand the nature of the reload rule and I'm very sure I'm nowhere near the reload limits on any of my submissions, what I'm asking now is; is there any limit to your total time, especially if it's obvious that the total time was not spent playing the game? Please let me explain that question as I couldn't think of a better wording. I start my game, demigod which I now think I might win(trying to contain my excitement as this will give me the QM if everything goes well) on Sat. morning about 11:30. I also just put in the first of 5 loads of laundry I have just before starting. About 30 min later I go switch the laundry to the dryer and load the washer, takes about 10 min, then I go make some lunch and so on, I did not turn of the game during this 20 mins, so it shows 50 min and I've sat at the computer about 30. Then repeat with 4 more loads, and feeding the baby and everything else a person might do on a weekend and I've got at least an hour, probably 3 hours more on my timer than I "played."
So, to the point, will this interfere or violate any of the HoF rules? I didn't think so, but if it does you might as well throw out all my games, although I didn't have the timer before now.

Sounds fine to me Marsden, pretty similar to me with washing/preparing food. I've also been known to go out for a run (OK, maybe a jog ;)) during the middle of a game.

You'd be surprised what happens between turns   :goodjob:
