Finally a selection of civs that make sense History-wise!

- Arabs in the main game! Their omission on Civ I and Civ II was ridiculous. Their importance rivals that of Rome, India or China!

- The Zulus were almost insignificant. If you want a sound African empire (other than Egypt), you can't go wrong with Mali.

- Two thumbs up to Spain, Mongolia and Persia!

- The Inca Empire would make the Sioux and Iroquois look disorganized and primitive. Another excellent choice!

The 18th civ is probably Greece. I don't mind the loss of Babylon (I think Assyria or Sumeria were more relevant). I will miss the Turks, but it would be unfair to say anything bad about the best selection of civs ever made to this franchise!

Congratulations, Firaxis!

PS: Great selection of leaders, as well. Cyrus, Louis XIV... And no more Cleopatra or Jeanne D'Arc!!! Iiiiiiihhhaaaaa!!!

By the way, keep ignoring these silly suggestions that Napoléon wasn't French or Salah Ad-Din wasn't Arab. It's understandable that you can't put Muhammad or Hitler on it (both could give the game bad publicity), but there is no good reason not to include Salah Ad-Din as a leader of the Arabs...

Napolean was not French and Hitler wasn't German, neither was Stalin a Russian.

Technically, they all came from other states.

Cleopatra is still a leader in C4 and Jeanne D'Arc is now a great military leader, where she rightfully belongs, she never ruled, unlike Cleo.

Corsica was part of France before he was born.

What important civs are missing:

Mesopotamia: the dawn of civilization, it simply needs to be in. I don't think I need to argue this, do I?

Turks: this civilisation has accomplished as many things as England, Spain or France, but they seem to get forgotten very often. And they balance the game further by adding more weight to the 'muslim/oriental' part of the game.

The other famous missings are just nice-to-have imho (American Indians, Maya, Byzantines, Other mesopotamians, Korea, etc.)

So, I would have been totally happy if they hadn't left out these two civs above. And with them, they would have the nice number of 20 civs... :)

simply: The French people think/thought Napoleon was their emperor. Napoleon considered himself Emperor of France and lead the country to glory.

SO, YES. NAPOLEON IS A GOOD FRENCH LEADER, what ethnicity he had is not really important for history, was it?

'Simply' - He was still Corsican.

Something you cannot deny.

PS
And I can read my own language, English - No need to type in BIG, BOLD CAPS!

*sheesh*

Well, the French took over it like 3 months before he was born, so I doubt it. However, those three months did make him a citizen.

Einstein and von Braun were made into US citizens, but they were still Germans.

Yes, sorry, I actually came onto 'caps lock'. I didn't want to yell at you. Did I deny somewhere that he was Corsican. I just said, he is a good french leader, cause he considered himself leading the french people, and thus being french.
And of course, he can be Corsican and be French too. You can have several identities, just as many people today consider themselves being Germand and European at the same time, Napoleon could consider himself Corsican AND French at the same time. It's not mutually exclusive.

Besides, it is much more interesting to speculate how he died than this... :)

IF he died. My theory is that he is helping Atlas hold the sphere of the sky, somewhere at the edge of the world. Unfortunately i am in a very small minority regarding this view :hmm:

Napoleon was French, although the french like to "adopt" famous people from other countries and pretend them to be French. e. g.;

Marie Curie - she was polish.
Eddie Merckx - he is from Belgium.
Pablo Picasso - He was spanish.
