with all respect, I think you deathlly underestimate the effects of Jingoism even today. After all, 6 years ago, who would have said the US was going to invade and occupy Iraq?

I would not have been surprised. The US is powerful enough (with or without nukes) and respected enough (or was) to get away with invading an unpopular country ruled by a brutal dictator. Jingoism is one thing, but leaders use jingoism to inspire actions they approve of; they don't get caught up in it themselves. Iran would only nuke Israel if it thought it could get away with it, and, nukes or no nukes in the US, it can't and knows it.

Besides, Iran also knows that the US would never use nukes against Iran. Why? Because the president that authorized it would lose the next election, and possibly be impeached even before then.

If both sides have nukes the likelyhood of nuclear war is practicaly zero, whether it be Iran or anywhere else. Iranians aren't as anti Jewish I would imagine as palestinians, I think they'd be more likely to be anti Iraq or anti sunnies or some such. Pakistan and India both now have nukes, I see no sign of either side despite there political adversities resorting to the final solution. The MAD pact was anything but mad really

Yes, if you count the recent Mexican military excursions into the southern United States.

Again, we come back to the same point - whether the US has nuclear weapons or not does not affect al Qaeda in any way. We naively think that terrorism is like Soviet communism, and that it will be fought in the same way. The reality is that there is no target to launch the nuke at. Ultimately, the only ones who stand to benefit from the existance of nuclear weapons are terrorists, as the more nuclear weapons there are in the world, the more likely that one will be stolen.

i think people are exaggurating this whole Iran and Nuke thing. sure anything is possible. its possible to have an erathquake now, or be hit by a meteor.it may rain tomorrow, or not. Iran may use nukes against lets say Israel. well, we can be certain that they wont. for all their talks, the Mulah like to stay in power, as long as possible. at least they like to stay alive ALAP. nuking Israel, would mean retaliation, and the susequent anihialtion of Iran. they mullah may be f***ed up people, but they are not stupid. they too have a sense of self-perservation.

We are far more likely to be hit with a nuclear bomb from Iran than from China (assume Iran has such bombs), because the Chinese albeit dangerous, are not insane. It is all matter of probability. No one can be sure of the future.
