While there are always a ton of war focused based civs, religious focused civs, culture focused civs and all around civs or combo platter civs (war and religion, war and culture, culture and religion) there is only one true science based Civ (Koreas Seondoek) and a few that have generally have very meh secondary science traits. This frustrates me to no end and even when looking for mods they are few and far between. Would like to see a couple truly science focused civs from the devs to balance it out a bit.

Arabia is really potent for science victories as well.

Scotland is also a true science civ, and arguably has more bonuses for a science Civ since they get Great Engineer points which can help get cities more hammers (which helps for spaceports). And Aztecs can sacrifice worker charges to speed up spaceports by 20% per charge I think.

Maybe we will see Babylonians or Mayans with science bonuses--who knows?

Would be nice. Yeah there are some other civs that definitely play well for a science victory beyond Korea. Both Arabia and Scotland can do very well with science to be sure. But there are a lot of specialist civs of each victory type except Science. There are quite a number specialist civs for war, religion and cultures where that is what victory type they are made for where there is really just Korea for science. I'd classify Scotland as an all around type and Arabia as a hybrid of religion with science.

Any civ that is good at production is good at science so:

Australia
Dutch
Japan
Germany
are all good science civs.

Ironically the two civs that have come the closest to the science victory in real life are not: America and Russia.

Honestly with what we have right now I would rank the top 5 science Civs as
1. Korea
2. Scotland
3. Arabia
4. Macedonia
5. China/ Sumeria
These all at least get some sort of straight science bonuses. Russia does too but they are more suited towards culture and even religion. That being said I would only put Korea or Scotland prioritizing science. I don’t see why we would not get Maya or Babylon for more.

Australia, Korea, Scotland, Arabia, Macedon, Germany, Japan, Netherlands, China, Brazil, the Cree, Sumer, heck even Aztecs or Spain are excellent to relatively good in science. The thing is you don't need flat Science bonuses all that much when your production/military advantages elevate you beyond reasonable gains anyway.
