Welcome to Giant Earth Map (GEM)!

Thanks for days on end of superb gaming from GEM, which will continue with the scenarios you have provided.

All the best for the future and hopefully you'll be showcasing your talents once again when civ5 rolls around. :goodjob:

Installed the newest Mod Version for BTS and it doesnt run anymore. I also have the newest BTS Patch installed. Is the newest Mod Version not compatible with the newest Patch or what causes my problem? Never had any issues before.

in the diplomacy screen,I found the following thing:
I meet A,and i choose B that already knows A
when I move my cursus on A,i can see if A is on war or wost enemy with C that I've not yet met.like this s.jpg
Is that a bug?

Does anyone know how to get the GEM mod working through Crossover Games? I followed all the steps to install the MOD, and can see it in the "load a MOD" screen, but when Civ restarts it always crashes immediately on or before it gets to the first start up screen... Thanks - ive played this map on PC and it is THE BOMB!

As I mentioned in the download page , this map is so well done , you could use it in teaching History or Geography , wonderful ! :D

awesome, thanks!
would it be alright for me to convert one of your scenairio's to RoM? probally 1500 AD. i really want a scen for RoM as it is anoying to always have to start in ancient ages as the games take much longer.

sure you can.

Thanks so much for this mod. It's brought me years of fun.

I'm having trouble with version 6.2. Previously on this computer I had BTS 3.17 with GEM 6.0 working fine. I've upgraded to BTS 3.19 and can start non-GEM games normally. I installed GEM 6.2 the same way as the previous versions: I renamed the previous version's folder and unzipped the new version in the MODS directory. I can load the GEM mod and start a scenario. When the scenario begins, I encounter three problems:

First, RevolutionDCM says that it can't find its configuration file. The message window suggested some locations where it looks, including MODS\RevolutionDCM. So I copied the entire Giant Earth Map directory to a parallel directory named RevolutionDCM and this error window no longer appears.

Second, I get an announcement at the top center of the screen (where the announcements appear) that says "Bug Init - cannot find XML file for mod init". I tried repeating the previous "fix" by creating folders named BUG and BUG Mod in the MODS folder, with no effect.

Third, the game starts without any interface controls visible. Some of the keyboard shortcuts work but not all. Ctrl+I and Alt+I don't make the interface reappear. (I always play with the interface so I'm not familiar with all the keyboard shortcuts.) Fortunately, Esc does bring the menu up so I can exit the game at this point.

I have never installed any of the other mods that are included in GEM 6.2 such as BUG and RevolutionDCM.

At first I had Blue Marble installed. I reinstalled it after I applied the patch, and I uninstalled it to see if it was causing any of the above problems, and that didn't have any effect.

Any ideas for what I can do to figure out what's going on here?

I had this problem before and I didn't know how to fix it. But when I upgraded everything to patch3.19, the pop-up has gone and I thought that is no longer a problem.

Mmm... I think I also saw this problem before, but I think I fixed it already. Not sure. May be try play around with the ini files.

This should be a problem entailed from pt 2. BUG changed quite a lot on the interface and if BUG had problem, the interface will be affected. So if you can fix point two, then this pt should work fine.

Overall, if you really can't fix the problem, you could try move the GEM WBS files and play under RevolutionDCM. The only thing that is incompatible as far as I could remember is the Map Size, called 'Giant' in the WBS file. You could either change it to HUGE or copy the WorldInfo.xml file into the RevolutionDCM. You would lost all the GEM specify settings by doing this, but at least it should be playable.

I solved the primary problem by downloading the BUG mod and running its installation program. Now I can play just fine.

I'm not convinced that RevolutionDCM is working, but I'll keep tinkering.
