WH Discussion Thread

I think beastmen would be much more attracted to the HoC side, cos all of the Champions of Chaos, blessed by the gods, yadi, yadi, yada, than any human would be to the Beastmen side. They smell, realy badly  As I understood they used to be one army, that gott splitt up cos Beasts of Chaos would offer a new gaming style (and new income for GW ;))

Aaglo`s first LH, wonder how it will turned out. (except perfect, of course :))

Stormrage, Brays and Bray-Shamen are not the same. :)

As for the unit lists, in the tabletop game the beastmen and hordes of chaos lists are interchangeable, but in a beastman army HoC units are rare, and vice versa.

do you think that the beastmen should be able to build some mortal units? like marauders or cultists? since the hordes of chaos can build some beastmen units?
Yes, I've been thinking about this, at least a little bit. ;)

Chaos should be able to build a couple of Beastman units. These should require Beasts, while most Beastmen units won't require Beasts.
Currently I'm thinking these should be Ungors and Bestigors. Bestigors because ATM Chaos don't have any other second era defender. Ungors would be a nice perk unit if you have Beasts (your spearmen get +1 HP).Or maybe Bestigors and Centigors (A "knight" unit needing beasts and iron, good if you don't have horses).
Yes, this means that they will loose most beastmen units.

Beasts of Chaos should get access to Marauder Horsemen if they have horses.
Maybe War Mammoths and Lesser Demons too, I'm not sure about those...

BTW, I will also follow Hikaro's suggestion and add Oasis as a resource.

Good, Oasis is very good!

You have the army book, look what it says there about who gets who. Mrtn, you don`t like the Bloodletter unit? He would be nice for the Beasts` lesser deamon unit, he looks very much like the beastmen.

I wish there was a way you could make Bestigors offensive :(

How bout that idea you and I talked about on the mod`s thread couple of months ago, about the Fleshhound being the second defender?

Hey, Guys, I made a magic attack for the Princess that maybe you could use to update the Bretonnian Damsels with (so that they actually have some magical effects insteaf of just waving their arms around)....

Also I was wondering if I could trouble you to include me in the credits part of the Readme.txt, since I did make the graphics used for the Oak of Ages, White Tower and the current Orc LH.....

Glad to hear about you adding the Oasises.

Oh, and I'm starting on making a Skaven LH... the only thing I don't have is a hood, but I do have a cloak (without a Hood), so that may just have to do... I got this free Furraldo figure that can be used for a variety of Toon animals, from mice to Coyotes. I've adjusted the morphs in his head to make his face look rat-like... Since the Rodent teeth morph didn't produce large enough teeth, I created two cylinders and put them in his mouth. Hopefully I'll be done with the LH tomorrow....

Yeah, I saw the Princess, looks good, I'll keep it in mind. :)

Ehm, of course you're right about the credits... IIRC that Readme is installed with the exe installer, and I don't think we'll change that anytime soon. I can of course give credits in any new readme, and I'll ask Mr. Do to thank you in the first post in the thread, but that's the only things that can be easily done. :(

Skaven LH sounds good. :)

Two issues I want to discuss:
First, there is the desert problem that everyone is talking about. I had the same problem - I offen start near a large desert area and it's a big disadvantage. While I don't support the ideea of desert settling I think we could use a bonus resource that would give food and commerce/production. This way the desert would become more attractive. How about oases?

First of all I believe that the oasis ideea was mine :mischief:.
Secondly, good to hear about the Skaven LH being made! I can't wait to play with mutated rats .

I also have an ideea regarding the second era defender for chaos/beastmen. As I remember Aaglo did a large Ungor and a smaller one. Why just not simply have the smaller ungor for the first era, calling it "lesser ungor" and the large one in the second era. That way we can have the Bestigor as an offensive unit as it should be.

@Hikaro: Please let me know if that sounds sufficient. Otherwise, send a PM.

@Scytale: I don't think that two units that are basically the same should be in the game, I think they'd be too confusing.

Sure, that's fine.

BTW, I'll get some previews of the Skaven up tomorrow afternoon.

About those Grail knights.. Maybe they could use the current Questing knight gfx (bottom right), and the Questing knight could get Bebro`s Burgundian knight (first one).

yay!!! Thank you stormy....
...all we need now is acceptable stats
I am becoming quite demanding in my old age.....

Barbs

Now when the skaven are turning into a civ, we need new barbarian units.

What do you think about...

"We have disturbed a Necrarch!"
as the barb message, and then have skeletons as the first barb. The advanced barb could be ghouls, or dregs/mutants. AFAIK we don't have any ghoul gfx, but I think that the zombie could do, maybe with a little colour mod.
And the barb hut gfx should be a black tower. :)

To continue the undead theme the sea barb could be the (first) undead ship Sylvania has, instead of the calamari. ;)

Edit: A Necrarch is a special type of vampire, specialised in necromancy, living in great towers, and most of them are mad.

the shadows proved far to difficult. it is quite litterally impossible to put them in, although darque said he'll try to upload shadowed gifs, but i'd have to remake the unit, which i'm not prepared to do.

Took the words right out of my mouth, Stormy!

The Skaven society consists of many clans, of which Skryre, Moulder, Pestilens and Eshin are the main ones. there are many other warrior clans, led by warlords that do not fall under the banner of the main clans, but who provide clanrats and stormvermin in times of war.

i think the skaven should stay as barbarians, to represent the constant threat that the skaven present to the whole world, but i think that the barbarian units should be the clanrat and stormvermin warrior instead of the rat ogre, since clan moulder are responsible for that monstrosity :)

there is also a lot of in fighting between the clans, so it wouldn't be unrealistic

I like your thinking, but I`m gonna add this suggestion just in case- lets say that you, the leader of the Ironclaw orks have managed to gather a lot of ork tribes under your banner, but there are still those stupid enough to think they can chalenge you :)

But I am more in favor of the Skaven, with them ignoring mountains, so they can move around safely, and do some pillaging.
