One of the best songs from Carmina Burana. Actually, Carmina Burana in it's entirety is pretty damn good. It's simply amazing that the feelings and emotions in the various songs are just as relevant as they were when the text was originally written, when Orff set them to music, and now in listening to them. Of course, not all the ideas are still useful, but I don't think that detracts from the power of the piece.
The first minute of Tchaikovsky's Marche Slave is one of coolest, most badass pieces of music ever written. I'm not so much a fan of the middle, but it's still pretty good.
I was in Berlin for a couple of days, and on saturday I went to a concert by the Berlin Philharmoniker, conducted by Yatuka Sado . They played two pieces.
The first piece was by the Japanese composer Toru Takemitsu:
Most popular piece by Belgian romantic composer August De Boeck. The music starts after 45"
(the original French title is Rapsodie Dahoméene)

Impressive playing for a youth orchestra, if you ask me. It's a regional orchestra with students from accross the Dutch/Flemish border. One of the trumpet players also plays in the wind band I play in.
I've had this song sitting in my itunes library for quite some time. For some reason I hadn't ever given it a full listen until one night I was very distraught and lying in bed. The ipod was on shuffle and I just let it play. It was a very powerful experience and has since caused this piece to become one of my favorites.
