What are your redeeming qualities?

We focused on the negative, now the positive. What are your redeeming features, physical or personality-wise? We all have our sins, but we also have our virtues. Enough white will make black disappear.

Mine:

1. Optimism. I find it easy to make the best of a bad situation and think of a better future, rather than lamenting a horrid present. When things are gloomy, I try to remind people of happier times and give them ideas on how to make things better.

2. Young spirit. I retain my youth at heart even as I age and as my mind has to deal with more adult issues.

3. Good learning ability. Knowledge is power, but you must be willing to learn to wield the power. Like most here on CFC, I have above-average intellect and a voracious mind for things that intrigue me. My memory is quite potent, allowing me to recall incidents that others have forgotten(and sometimes exact vengeance for said incidents).

4. Passive generosity. I may not give much in terms of cash, but I will and have helped family when they really need it(like when my cousin would be left penniless if her boyfriend couldn't find a ride to work). I like to try and bless people, or use spiritual means to help them get by. I consider it atoning for the many sins I've done, do, and will do.

5. Poor ability to lie. Intentional or non, my ability to lie is subpar. Not precisely virtuous since it's not 100% willing, but many see it as a virtue nonetheless. I can lie best when it is not malicious in intent.

6. Respect where it's due. I respect my parents and their generosity far more than my sister, and also respect authority figures in general, even if I do have the temptation to slap them across the face on occassion. I was often a favorite pupil of many teachers, and called a teacher's pet for my fierce loyalty.

7. Wise gambler. When I hit a profit margin, I don't get sucked into "it will keep going up" - I get out and wait until something drops before going in again. Not stopping while ahead is the ruiner of any would-be fortunes. The exception to this if it's fake money, since I don't need to take precautions as much.

8. Strong morals. They are few and far between, but my moral code is absolute. No innocent shall be harmed, you shall not rob the poor, and nobody should have to steal for food.

Saying wishful thinking like "I am perfect" will earn you being reported for spam.

So what are your redeeming features?

That I have learned the lesson that one can't dwell on mistakes forever. Just try to fix it as best as you can and move on.

I'm good for a laugh.

I retain most information I am exposed to. Everyone loves me at pub quizzes.

I am awesome. Is that a redeeming quality?

I donate a decent amount to charity causes.

Is it at least 10% of your income? If not, then it is not decent, and not a redeeming quality. In addition, as charity is a moral duty, that is equivalent to saying "I do not murder people."

No, not 10%(although if you throw in the amount I donate to Tithe, it'd be pretty close).

But more than your average American(which is more than the Average non-american as studies show).

Fine then, I'll just say "I pity fools".

Donating to charitable causes is in part pitying fools(people who were foolish with their money).

Straight from the flaw thread. (I thought I ought to do that one first! ;))

  • Always happy
  • No fear
  • Optimistic
  • Compassionate
  • Honest
  • Polymath

I have none...

I'm very forgiving. Not really worth much praise, I just tend to forget to hold grudges.

I wouldnt know. Any suggestions?

  • I love animals
  • I'm a nice guy :)
  • I live in Missouri
  • My word is my bond... unless I oversleep!
  • I take day of rest very seriously
  • Dachs thinks I'm multifaceted and complex
  • In addition to dying for my country, I'd kill for it
  • Ditto family and friends

Redeeming quality...redeeming quality...this file has been corrupted.

Well, given my debts and income, not everyone can manage to make it work as I do. It's definitely enabled me to...with massive new debt replacing paid old debt...to make two very important trips this year.

That's about it.

Okay, well, I will add that I somehow managed to get myself hired in December 2008. I'll take a little pride in that. And since then, I've managed to about double my income, though double squat is still squat.

Yeah, well...you only have one firearm now. I'm just not sure I can bring myself to believe this. If you can turn your back on this defining feature...well...

:king:

I did think of one. Theres been a few times when I said something that seemed obvious to me and everyone calls it awesome because it completely broke the other persons argument. I wouldnt know what to call this though.
