Many firefox users, as exemplified above, seem to think their browser is the best, and all the rest (especially IE) are far inferior, and have great security risks. They think themselves the 'elite' and that only people that use Firefox actually know something about computers. "IE users are stupid" seems to be what most of you FF users are saying. That's not a fair judgement. I wonder why some people think IE is the Internet....maybe, it is because it is so popular, and easy and simple to use.

You remind me of the Apple advocates who constantly mock the PC and praise the Mac just because they are obviously prejudiced/biased.

And what's wrong with buying a pre-assembled machine from HP? ;)

I don't mock the Internet Explorer uses. Let them believe that they have a safe browser. ;)

But in all seriousness, I just use Firefox because it blocks the pop ups I used to get with Internet Explorer. Plus, for some reason, Internet runs faster on Firefox.

It's not a matter of "thinking" it's the best when it has been proven again and again that Firefox is safer. There have been dozens of tests (and as far as web standards go.. IE is still in the stone age). Once again:

wikipedia.org said:
The security website Secunia keeps an up-to-date list of known unpatched vulnerabilities. According to the Washington Post, Internet Explorer was known to have exploit code for unpatched critical flaws for 284 days of 2006. The article goes on to compare this with 9 days for Mozilla Firefox.

284 days that a security flaw goes unpatched for IE, compared to only 9 days for Firefox (it seems there is next to nothing concerning Opera and Security flaws). That really sounds safe, doesn't it?

There is also the hundreds of extensions that you can use in firefox. I don't know what I'd do without AdBlock (allows you to "block" image advertisements on a webpage.. thus saving loading time in pages you visit often) and FoxMarks (automatically syncs bookmarks on differant computers.. add a mark on one computer.. and it'll appear on the other computer with no work from yourself).

FireFox is also free and open-source software available on almost any Operating System. Another common mistake is that a lot of people seem to think that Windows is your computer, when it's not. Firefox is supported in both Linux and MacOSX and it's portable.

IE also does not follow many web standards, thus making it harder for web designers to create pages. CSS and XHTML support is also severely lacking (and or non-existent).

Do a search in google for Firefox vs IE7 (or IE7 vs Firefox) and see what comes up. I only checked a couple of sites off of the first page, but every single one of them declared Firefox as the superior browser. I could not find a single source that declared IE7 as better. An example from on of the major software sites:

CNET Comparison.

It's not a matter of thinking it's better.. when there are hundreds of tests and comparisons that support the claim. I use Safari, Konquerer, and Opera all fairly regularly (although less so than FireFox) and think that all four is superior to IE in terms of security, productivity, and community.

When I told my mother about switching to Mozilla, she was like:

There's a program that does the same as Internet Explorer?

Well, Firefox doesn't do the same as IE: it does better. :mischief:

I can think of one website that would say IE Is better

www.microsoft.com

:D

You'll usually notice that people who actually do know about computers tend to have better things to do than bicker about browsers.
