Same here--& I was a builder initially. But as I got better at the game, I started warmongering, 1st as Rome, then as the Aztecs.

babylons for culture domination
zulu for all out war
iroquese/japan for building with some later wars

but all things considered i love those iroquese!

Viking!

Beserkers are the best unit ever made.

Japan, definitly Japan. Because they are religious so that helps a lot. And because of their UU. I don't like going to war, but once i get samurai i take as much land as i can in the time period that they are around.

Well, since my last post I have been playing the new conquests civs alot. My favorites out of them would have to be Incas, Mayans, and Sumerians (Although I do like the Byzantines as a people, and their history/culture) The others I just don't really have a taste for.

The main reason that I choose my civs is usually not for a strategic reason. I play the civilizations I like best as a culture and/or are most interested in at the time.

byzantines! seafaring iz da shiiiiiiiiznit and so is science. get many groups of 4 dromons and send them at every enemy coast city youre at war with and auto bombard. let the ai try to get sea units out! just never upgrade them. i built like 60 in the game i have going now and i have 4 in each coastal city. i repelled a a group of 2 cruisers, a destroyer, and a transport with 8 dromons. ITS INSANE! before them i use to play greece. eh .. they were alright. theyre the only 2 civs im interested in playing in. i guess its cause im greek.

Greeks or Charthage,
b/c bothh civs have a great defensive UU.

I am not a warmonger but I love sticking it to the Romans or the French when I find them!!!!

hmm, no one mentioned the Germans? I have really been enjoying using them. Scientific and Militaristic are both very strong traits, imo.

I also like Agricultural a lot. I seem to have no problem with having a nice growing population when i use the Incas.

Maya, Sumeria, Byzantines and the Dutch is the Civs I play most of the time. I like Civs that are Agricultural, Scientific and Seafaring.

I know it is a stupid reason, but I pick by:

1. Traits (not so stupid)
2. Color (this is the stupid part. lol) I don't like pink or yellow, etc... lol)

3. I love the Mayans, with the new ag trait and industrial to boot, I think they are easily one of the best civ's out there.

I recently found Arabia is a good choice,
expansionist and riligious, and UU 4/2/3 knights only cost 60 shields,
these are all very helpful to the Sid's level.
Anyway, Arabia's start technology seems not very good

I gotta hand to you "Random" guys - that makes for every game to be a challenge in the fact you have different challenges each game and must make a "gamepln" on the fly....

All in all, the civs really do give this game amazing replayability...

I have found the Aztecs to be very fun its almost like getting "expansionist" with the Jaguar Warrior - I definitely get a very nice advantage with goodie huts and world map along with their other great traits - No Anarchy.....

And of course Persia with the immortals is fun - its a civ that makes you want to invite other civs to declare war on you in ancient times....

I have limited time playing but looking forward to trying out Greeks, Romans, Babylonians, Japanese, Chinese & Egyptians...

So many Civs, so little time... :)

I thought the thread was about what type of Civs you like going. I didn't think it was who/what you choose most often. :hmm:
Ie you may pick "Random" all the time, but you would be happier that you got the Americans, instead of the Aztecs or the Germans.

If the question is, What do you choose as your Civilisation most often?, then... well... I don't. I go whoever isn't on my Hall of Fame already...
