What CPU is enough for huge map + max civs?

if you feel that you need some more CPU speed with the 1055, then just overcklock it, it is very very easy! (just make sure that it doesnt run to hot!)

Hyperthreading≠more cores
Hyperthreading is a POS lie

Civ V is know to be able to use at least 12 cores

Really? That's great, maybe I'll upgrade my quad to the 6 core (1065T or 1090T I think is what it's model is) for my personal christmas present to myself if it will help Civ 5.

I dont' have any other games that take advantage of multiple cores, Civ will be the first to utlize more than one core, although having a quad core for the way that I use a computer has been great since I'm a very sloppy computer user and multitasking is my 2nd name, I often drive my wife nuts with how many programs I have open at one time and moving back and forth between them on a constant basis, she can't figure out how I manage to keep it all going in my old brain.

A Hexacore will boost it further, however be aware that Bulldozer is coming next year and you can get an 8(!!!) cores CPU

Awesome, maybe my christmas present will just have to come late, like next year.

You will need a new MoBo though as Bulldozer is AM3+ and will not work in older sockets (including AM3)
It's Quad Channel (!) and natively supports 1866MHz RAM (!)

To bad the I7 970 is a rip off!

Oh well, I'll be waiting until next year for cheaper Intel hexes.
