What do you guys think of the intro?

I have to be honest - I don't like it much. The intro to Civilization V (vanilla) was really good, but the Gods and Kings intro was absolutely exceptional, maybe even the best intro in the whole series. I would literally watch the Gods and Kings intro every time I played the game, and never got sick of it. So far, the new intro doesn't really impress me.

What do you think?

I like the graphics (and the inclusion of video montages), but the script is appalling.

I didn't like the G&K intro particularly - vanilla seemed much more evocative.

You didn't like the G&K intro? I loved it - the music, the script, everything. A work of art.

I do agree that the script for the new intro is bad. And I don't like the music (or lack thereof).

Its uninspiring. I'm sorry. They need to change it. I don't want to look at a coal stoker for the next year and a half. I'm not Saruman and this isn't Isengard.

Edit: Its also very preachy as if telling kids today how to act.

A boring retelling of modern history. I miss the vanilla intro that gave you a sense of wonder and possibility instead of the "here's what happened, now recreate it" theme. And the male vocalist during the menu music is absolutely awful. I've had to mute it until I start a game. Hopefully I can get used to it soon.

I love it. Could very well be my favourite intro of any civ game ever.

I also think the music is fantastic.

I booted up the game this morning to make sure BNW had downloaded and I watched the intro.

I loved some of the scenes (the man running away from the cinematic train was great), and the graphics were very well done. The script, however, was really bland. I had trouble paying attention to what was being said, which was certainly not the case with Vanilla or G&K.

The music was good. I really LOVED the opening theme from G&K, though, so it's hard for me to compare this new music to that favorably.

I liked the visuals at least... The words weren't as much about you creating a future of your design however, and more about learning from what has already occurred in real history. Good advice I guess but it doesn't really seem to fit with the theme from the first two packs of a leader leading his civilization to glory through the advice/dreams/prophecy of his father/elder

Visually great, but the script is boring. I didn't even really pay attention to it until the end, and I only noticed then because I realized how boring the script is. So, loses to Gods and Kings scriptwise, wins visually.

Seems lame to me.....To me, it's not Civ without Boba Yetu. :p

The visuals were very nifty, but the actual monologue was rather quite bland and generic.

G&K was definitely the best intro of the three, the new menu music is awesome!

Hmm... actually I thought the scripting was excellent, and forward looking, much more mature than the first two. Is it preachy? Maybe a bit. But really, is this a point that we should disagree on? I mean, one can certainly debate the merits or demerits of international bodies, but the idea that people have to learn peaceful coexistence- isn't that obvious? It shouldn't be controversial. I think the best intro so far.

Bland, boring, dull, rubbish. Pales heavily to both the original opening and the G+K opening.

I'd personally prefer to see a longer intro that shows bits of every era, maybe in Civ VI! xD
