it's like a crimson red beet thing, and you boil it for a while and then you peel it and slice it up. The juice of it stains anything it touches too. It goes really nicely in sandwiches and burgers. i'm pretty sure it's not just an aussie thing too, i'm pretty sure they have it in england too. don't know about elsewhere.
