What do you name your religion?

Depends on whom I'm playing.

Norway: I'm preachin' Wenches & Ale
Canada: Spreading the goodness of Tim Horton's
Sumeria: Speaking the word of The Dude
Victoria: "Pax"

I liked it in previous versions of Civ that it told you that such and such a City wanted your religion. Playing Rome: "Antanavaro desires Legions"

If I take Defender of the Faith (usually as Jadwiga) I use the turtle symbol and name it War Turtles. If I don't do that I go with Buddhism or Taosim.

It started with Tengriism from Civ 5, but now I pick a bird symbol and start the Bird Cult.

BIRD CULT

Given that we have the ability to name our religions whatever we like, I'm thinking there must be some creative genius names being used by players. I'm curious as to what people are using.

My use of Zombieism is starting to get stale, so I'm looking for some creative influence to change it up a bit.

When not using the historically available religions in the game, I go for some of the lesser known real-world religions, like Vodoun/Vodun or Washani (a Native North American Religion).

Thanks for reminding me of this! I used to exploit this feature for fun so much. Among the names I remember I used are: "to be loved", and "cake" :)
"Such-and-such-a-city wants cake". Yeah, that was fun :)

When I don't pick one of the historical religions, I usually go for a name bound to the prophet. Baptism, Adishankarism, Simonpeterism etc. Confucius is used to found Confucianism. You can even revive Mithraism with the bull symbol.
If I choose one of the named historical religions, I pick those AI doesn't - Sikhism, Judaism.

Totally boring here. Obvious historical religion. If that's not available, whatever symbol strikes my fancy, or my kid's, if one of them is nearby. Name is something like "butterfly" if the butterfly is chosen.

But I'm liking some if the ideas in this thread. Mooism might be my next religion. Chaos theory will be an option with the butterfly. Wavy lines might make an appearance too.

I always choose the butterfly symbol and call it Butterflyism. I like butterflies, but I do need a new one. It's been years since I didn't use Butterflyism.

Dudeism of course. I usually pick whichever custom symbol catches my fancy at the time.

My answer will be the most boring one yet. I simply choose one of the crosses from the first row (Catholicism, Eastern Orthodoxy, Protestantism) and sometimes Buddhism if some of the crosses have been already taken. I don't care about what's historiacally appropriate for my civ, I don't care about the name, I just take a icon that I'm used to seeing to be able to quickly tell my religion apart on the playfield.
Boring :)

Whatever Civ I'm playing, I like to spread the gospel of turtle worship, because turtles are cool. I call it Chelonism (named for Chelonii, the order to which turtles belong in scientific classification), and use the turtle symbol of course.
