I already played my Morocco game in BNW and I can say that Petra with desert folklore and a broad kasbah spam is indeed very powerful.

What about when you don't get petra? I find it gets built incredibly early in my games so far.

Just started building them, they're fantastic. 2 food, 2 production and 2 gold with Petra/Kasbah on tiles that previously yielded nothing. Unfortunately, mine are all nowhere near the exposed parts of my empire, so I don't get the take advantage of the fort aspect, at least this game.

Even without petra, it's still pretty solid. It'll make your desert towns easily protectable and just good all around.

Without Petra, it's pretty meh, on my opinion. Feels like it'd be nice, but even in cities with a lot of desert tiles, there's usually better things to work than the kasbah. I'd like to see them add a late game culture to it or something to buff it a little.

Kasbah on desert hills is pretty decent even without Petra, 1f 3p 1g.

hrrm have a hard time deciding if i want to go into piety or not. with the desert pantheon and a faith cs its commmon to found a religion but im haveing a hard time allocating my early sp choices as morocco seems , to me at least, to want to get patronage

Exactly, because Petra is all about the food on hills esp those with fresh water access for farms.

Kasbah makes those hills viable for cities without Petra.

Petra+Kasbah is just a sea of one-tile unspecialised overkill

Morocco is great. I had a playthrough with them that was amazing as well, their abilities on deserts are very useful and the kasbah, particularly in the early game, can be a game changer, particularly coupled with Petra.

yup, playing as Morocco right now, founded a costal desert city surrounded by desert plains and hills. After Petra + a couple of kasbahs, the city became an industrial (and to a lesser degree, economic) powerhouse, that couldn't even be matched by my capital + hydro plant + factory.
