What do you think should be on CIV4 (improvements from CIV3)?

What would you like to see implemented in the game? (note: this was a merged thread)

Ive heard that civ 4 is in a planning phase with an estimate of a release in approx. 2 years.....

"I've heard..."

Hm, could you be more specific?

Anyway, I don't think that another Civ will surface in less than 4 or 5 years.

Are people from Firaxis even reading all the wonderfull ideas for Civilization 4???

Certainly. Many of the changes and additions in the various patches etc came about because of player feedback. The cultural flipping preference in PTW is a good example. Many players didn't like it so they made it available as an option.

When Civ III was in the planning stages, the forums compiled what was called "The List". It contained all sorts of ideas for what people wanted to see in the new game, some of which were actually used.

I don't think that Firaxis has any near term plans for Civ4. By near term I mean less than 4 years from now.

Very Cool!!!

I wonder how Firaxis will suprise us then........

Where did you hear that at?

I heard from one of the game cites (In a forum discussing games) that at a conference attended by several companies including infogames civ4 was mentioned as a future game release but that its just in the initial planning phase and is at least 2 years out which means that it could be longer than that as well. I believe it may have been the ign forums but I surf alot of forums so I cant recall for sure but Im sure I read it a couple months ago. I was under the impression that this was common knowledge but maybe its not nor can I vouch for the credentials of the people in the discussion as it was mentioned with many other future games as being in the works so to speak.

Inca, Maya, Polynesia-Malaya, Austro-Hungary, Phoenecia and Space Aliens. :mutant:

Inca
Maya
Huns

That's about it I can think of.

Sioux Indians.
The Inuit.
Easter Islanders (Rapa Nui).
BARBARIANS!

Some of these seem to be vountries or Empires rather than civilizations. Austria-Hungary for example was the German civilization and the Magyar civilization. There were no real "Austro-Hungarians", hence why the empire disintegrated so easily after WWI.

The Holy Roman Empire was effectively the German civ.

And as for the Italians, I think the Romans cover that, in that the Italians kick off where the Romans left. It's kinda how it would be stupid to have an Iranian civilization when the Persians are already there. And what would the Italian capital be? :)

Having Mycaneans as well as Greeks is another overlap, as would be the Macedonians in a way.

I just think it's important to remember that this game is called "Civilization", not "Two-Bit Empire or Nation State That Lasted A Few Hundred Years".

And the Mongols were a civilization then? The Mongol empire lasted barely longer than the life-span of one man.

some more sub-saharen African civ's

Israel

Nubia

Sytheians(modern-day Germans, Egyptians, Indians[from India] as well as other races, perticularly Europeans, desended from them or mixed with them)

Etruscans(roman alphabet is based on the etruscan one. i think the etruscans also contacted the greeks, since all 3 cultures have similar alphabets)

Souix

Scotland

Incans

Aborigineas

Neanderthals(they are a sub-species of humans, according to the theory i believe in, their scientific name is homo sapien neanderthalis while human's scientific name is homo sapien sapien)

Swahili

In the next version of my mod, Civ3+ v3.0, i'll add the Neanderthals.
