I use an outdated program called SmartRipper to get the VOB, and then avi.NET to convert it to AVI. although sometimes i just use the VOB.

I dont think we can discuss this here as technically Ripping DVD's is bypassing their copy protection which is illegal.

I will await a mods approval on this topic before offering any help.

Exactly. The CFC servers are located in the US though, which kinda makes such discussion on the site illegal. Plus its in the forum rules.

And yes, it sucks.

You are. But you're not allowed to bypass the copy protection, which you must do to make a backup.

I am going to assist you because i am going to imagine that you are doing is perfectly legal in all countries of the world because the actual DVD you are using is not having Legal protection , and do so , for the sake of anyone (Who i disrespect for doing so) who may imagine that you may be using DVDs with legal protection on it that you are not allowed to bypass and you must get punished somewhat for doing so .

Try DVD Decrypter v3.5.4.0 and see if it works better for you.http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_rippers/dvd_decrypter.cfm

Yeah I use DVD decrypter, but it is no longer available most places. Probably because it has never, ever failed me for the past 7 years. Ever.
