What does CFC recognize you for?

I said something nice about you! :(

I know! Thank you! That was the whole post before I noticed yours, I edited it instead of double-posting. I was referring to the last page being mostly chitchat and some vague trolling.

@Defiant47: It's most likely your avatar.

CFC recognizes me either for making Civs for Civ4, or for being an occasional poster in OT.

azzaman: Called me a spammer. :)

@Defiant47: It's most likely your avatar.

One thing I'm really curious to know is how do people know who my avatar is?

I think it would take a very small portion of the population to be educated enough to know that it is Erwin Rommel, but sufficiently uneducated as to not know of his impeccable integrity and anti-Nazism views.

This describes me perfectly. I know his name, his basic function in the war, and what he looks like, but none of his personal convictions or political views.

Sent from a phone, apols for any mistakes.

Which is weird, because I always thought Rommel was most famous for (besides North Africa) his counter-Nazi sentiments.

Yeah, I mean von Manstein was a brilliant strategist as well, but he was Nazi-neutral, so he's not too well-renowned. And then there are the more Nazist generals through the Wehrmacht, that aren't really known much.

Seems to work out that the Allies only revered the generals that also had some sort of moral fiber, but then also focused on their strategic capabilities (because it would give a bad taste to revere the excellent strategies of a Nazi).

Please let your favorite moderator(s) know the good news.

When I think of JollyRoger, I automatically think right away that he had a lot of people in here trip over his leg a few times. And they still hold grudges to this day.

My opinion of this place is there are a lot of cry babies in here. Especially the many that love to ring all of the moderator's door bells when they can't stomach an ego larger than theirs. That is what you get with a lot of different nerds + safe distance from their keyboards + an access to the internet + and their undying need of attention in a community full of many different nerds.

Peace :)

The Moderators here (not going to name some of them) are nerd-bullies enforcing nerd like games. One of them actually treats us like we are supposed to be employees in a workplace. Quite odd there because I had thought that all of us came here with the intention to escape the stuffy environment of our jobs, schools, and/or in some cases - among our friends and family IRL.

Please don't take my subjective opinions as a flame or a troll. It's a rant. And I know I can leave anytime I want, but these things don't fade me, yo.:)

yeah, rommel was totally anti-nazi, that's why fought the brits for them instead of going into exile or even trying a coup.

he wasnt particularly happy about what happened in germany, but he didnt draw any consequences from this sentiment.

I only knew it because someone else said it was him :p. I never knew about his political views, though.

Great read.

I have to say I fail to see what this have to do with us having to always be obedient to the social hierarchy in here. When in fact the majority of us rest on the behalf of the few that dictate what formula that we all have to abide by.

I guess you are right by your intended quote - even though it is entirely about something else - that we are merely an extension of the few that go about making a mess of trying to mold us into something where everyone can showcase their predetermined, but yet, acceptable stereotype in a theater of banal self-deprecation.

Yeah, I admit that that was nice sound bite moment that had been stripped of its context. But, if you're not nit picky, then one could say that the quote quite aptly describes the fact that many people construct their identities and habitus through their experiences within the work place. Hence the occasional demands that you always be obedient to the kind of social hierarchy they have at work.

Not nit-picky at all. We have a saying here: "I feel you." :)

We can all day go about analyzing the psychological impacts that a workplace can do to people, and how they carry it to a social medium such as this. But can you really say for sure that any over-demanding, and somewhat oppressive environment like a workplace can cause people to behave what they do in here?

That can be a factor. I also perceive that the position at the top of the social hierarchy here allows more freedom for people experiment their ideas on how to govern and manage various conflicting stereotypes.

I think most of them are horrible. But this is coming from a open minded anarchist that doesn't believe in stereotype. Anti-collectivist I guess. :/
