What does the Yellow Thing mean?

In your capital city there is a white star but sometimes a yellow thing appears in it and it changes over the course of the game does anyone have any idea what this is

The star is white in the picture but sometimes it goes yellow

White means you are producing at least 1 food. Yellow means you are not growing. Red means you are starving your citizens.

The star never ever turns red. It can be white while starving or growing and yellow while starving or growing. I think you mean the number, not the star. Is this an english forum?

The manual says nothing about it as far as I can tell. I would guess it is white for contnent, gold for happy and red for unhappy. You would have to test that.

Embassies, perhaps? I seem to recall that double-clicking on the star takes you to the Espionage screen.

That is possible, as the same yellow dot appears next to rivals that you have an embassy with on the F4 screen.

But the yellow goes away and comes back over the course of a game. Have any of you tested if making an embassy changes the yellow?

I have noticed it once or twice, but never have I really cared about it.

The yellow in your capital means you should have the ability to make embassies (meaning you have writing researched)

A yellow in someone elses capital means you have an embassy in that capital. I'm not sure, but if someone establishes an embassy when you haven't researched writing a yellow box might also appear.

As for spies, if you have the intelligence agency built in a city it will have a white pentagon around the star. If you have a spy in someone elses capital, I believe it has a black dot in the center of the yellow small pentagon.

As some have already said, it means you can build embassies, except IIRC that the yellow dot stays there even after you have embassies with everyone. It disappears when you're in anarchy.

Star means it’s a capital city, dot in the middle means you have diplomatic relations with the country (an embassy), Pentagon means they have an intelligence agency if I am not mistaken.

If you're referring to what I think you're referring to, it's the Global Warming marker from pollution.

It is just a gauge on the level of pollution in the world at that time. It goes from yellow to red and you start getting global warmings.

start with alphabet, pop a goody hut and be really lucky

Good point, I usually don't play with barbs, and hut's aren't friendly to me on my level anyway's.
