What does the Yellow Thing mean?

I never play expansionist civs. ;)

start with alphabet, pop a goody hut and be really lucky

being expansionist helps.

it sometimes gets old when every hut i pop has barbarians that kill my scouts

both of these statements kind of surprise me. Goody huts grant the lowest costing techs first, so writing should be popped later...

and also, if you're expansionist, you shouldn't be popping barbs, you have "friendly" relations with the natives as part of your trait (however if someone else pops it and you run into it or are near it, you get unlucky)

you misunderstood my statement

maybe i should have put a because in there between maybe i

being expansionist helps BECAUSE it sometimes gets old when every hut i pop has barbarians that kill my scouts (using scouts as a general term, not the unit, although my mod allows scouts for each civ)

the writing thing is possible if you have a close neighbor who has close neighbors who all trade/pop huts in the first few turns and trade again, thus getting you writing. it is possible, but it is a very tiny chance.

Scouts are only available to expansionist Civs and being expansionist means you are guaranteed not to pop barbs from huts.
