What do you think would be the historical ramifications if the Peloponnesian war occured in the 1930s and 1940s and WW2 occured in the 5th century BC? Assume that all the weaponry etc. would be the same as it was in real history, so for example BC Hitler still gets Panzers, and the modern day Peloponnesian would still use the weapons from the 5th century BC.

I know this is somewhat outlandish but lets try to take it seriously people. I think geopolitical changes are one of the most interesting and fruitful manners of doing alt-history.

Macedonians eventually win epic spearmen v.s. tank fight. Then they die more than 2000 years later to machine guns. The balance is restored.

It's quite simple really, what is the most basic fact about WWII?

It's that it's ~2400 years after the Peloponnesian war!

But how could it be both 2400 years before and 2400 years after WWII? Simple answer, time is cyclic with a period of 4800 years.

So it means for us that over the next 2330 years or so, we'll blow ourselves back into the stone age and our bodies will biodegrade into oil to be used to fuel the industrial wars of the next cycle in an unending circle of pointless bloodshed and misery.

I believe this What If can only end in awesomesauce.

Reminds me of the closing scene in Monty Python's Holy Grail. King Arthur is about the lead his knights and troops against that castle full of rude Frenchies, when suddenly the London Bobbies ride in and arrest the lot - leading them away in handcuffs. A Douglas Adams kind of scewball juxtaposition of unlikely adversaries.

Can we work in Marvin the Paranoid Android somewhere? Maybe it was him in a time machine fleeing from cricket-playing killbots that starts this?
