Early in the Russo Japanese war in 1905(?) English ships were mistakenly fired upon and damaged by the Russian Pacific fleet. The Two nations are brought to the brink of war.

What if they had gone to war?

As Russia already lost this war to the Japs i think it would have destroryed Russia and stoped WWI. British take over all of Russians Eastern holdings with some being lost to the Japs and Russias surrenders and Probably losses Finland and the Ukraine around the Black sea maybe more.

I alright in the middle of typing this i remembered something i was taught in History class two years ago. Germany under the leader ship of Bismark who i think was still chancelor at this time had an aliance with almost every major and minor power in europe except Britian and france and this is around the time of the Boar wars.

If it is as i remember it then we would all be speaking German now and their would have been no holocaust. if before the boar wars then the british would loss south africa as those people would try to regain it.If not then they would be exhausted from it and the rest would still be true. The Germans would be forced into the war on the side of the Russians. british would have to bring in the French. The Germans roll over the French as they don't have to even Pretend to fight the Russians like they did in WWI. The Russian millitary would be well supplied by the Germans and defeat the british and Jap forces on ground. Italy if they act dumb and Fight for the British will loss the Germans and austrians and will probably be Split into east and west. The German and Russian Navies blockade Britian. America does enter the war because Teddy is in charge now what side we join is still a toss up. If we fight for the Brits and Japs we take over the German poscesions in the East and then force a stalemate in Europe as we wont be able to land and invasion force and we won't be able to land a suficently large force because we don't know how to do it and they have all the man power of Europe to call on.

all right i could go on all night on the mutleple out comes and slite variations. Like invasion dates and Join dates and all kinds of stuff. Send it to Turtledove. Maybe he could right something a little more believable then His alternate History for the Civil War.(American Civil War) Like heck the British would have join in the war (did not need cotton from the South and were to worried about lossing canada to the union as it had a larger and more well trained army and was one of the only two armies aquantied with modern warfare.)and like it would have solved anything and like heck their would have been an Empire of Mexico as France had occupied it during the civil war(if i remember right).

1905: Bismark has already resigned and even i think died.

Would Britain going to war with Russia have Started WW1 early, potentially messing up the Alliance systems as we know it. was the 3 emperors league still in effect?

Turtledove would mess this up. he has a thing for the same events happening only with different players The only thing i've read of his that wasn't awful was the worldwar series and it's followup. He won't write those books though.

All right i got some new info tryn to come up with what alliances where with whom. France had an alliance with both of them. So who ever france decided to fight for would lose. France probably would have chosen to fight for the Russians because of their old rivalry with Brittian and the fact it gains them nothing to fight the other way. Germany declares war on france and Russia because brittian would either have to surrender or get them to join in. Then we would have seen a repeat of wwI except the Germans would have permission to march through belgium because the british and Belgiums were real close allies at that time. So paris would have fallen because the Germans would not have had to waste time secruring Belgium. Then Russia surrenders and the war is over with one heck of a powerful Germany. No Nazis.

When Britain has military and naval superiority over the French?

I think France would be quick to abandon the Russians.

There would never be a war between the two.
The 2 powers were not competing against each other in anything.
England had a huge navy
Russia had a huge inefficient Army.
The event was going to be dismissed as a mistake.

Germany had colonies in Africa and Asia so did England, but Russia only had a continuous mass of frozen land in Asia.
So England and Germany were competing.

What would England do in the case of a war against Russia?

Land hundreds of thousands of men somewhere in Russia or maybe they could ask permission of Germany for them to use their territory as a headquarters and then invade Russia.
I am sorry but this seems completely unreasonnable.
