What exactly is Canadian culture? I mean, of course there's culture in Canada, but is there anything unique about it.
The way I've always seen that is, there is no unique Canadian culture-that Canadian culture is really Multiculturalism (and that's what makes it 'unique'). To me, all culture in Canada either comes from somewhere else (American culture, usually) or is only unique to a few regions (ie, Acadian culture).
But I have a feeling that that opinion is wrong, so that's why I'm asking this-is there a unique Canadian culture that could be found throughout Canada (other than beavers and maple leaves)?

Mounties!

Hockey? The ritual of explaining to Americans how Canadians are not Americans? A Channel?

Thinking -40 degree in the winter is average.

No, I'm dead serious.

"Mild" is just below 0.

But how does weather, mounties and maple syrop make us culturally unique? Yeah, we have mounties, beavers, hunting, and mountains of snow-all those stereotypes. But how is that relevant to most Canadians- how is it relevant to you, if you're Canadian? Other than mountains of snow, whcih is completely relevant of course (but how is that uniquely Canadian, as opposed to Northern Europe and some parts of the US)?

Way too big of a country for a question like that...

Sure there are obvious Canadiana things but this is a country that is a confederation of regions. Depending on what region of Canada you are from will define your culture.

I live in southern Ontario, I can guarantee you I will have more in common culturally with someone from Michigan than British Columbia.

For me, there is no unique Canadian culture. Although we do try hard to pretend there is. Perhaps that's our culture. All pretending to be something we are not.......Canadians.

I personally think Canadians are so bored of this question that they would rather just tell you they don't have a culture anyways. That would be a Canadian thing to do since it wouldn't worry a Canadian and you'd get the answer you want and everyone would be happy. Lets Hug and Quebec sucks.

American but without the balls, with a sprinkle of the gayest of the British and French. :mischief:

We are a culture of stereotypes?

Therefore we are a nation of socialists fighting cancer and diabetes and saving the environment while talking on the phone, playing hockey, peacekeeping, promoting bilingualism and . .. .. .. .. .ing about the Quebecois.

Canadian culture is continually asking what is Canadian culture over and over again.

Seriously, we are the only country that does this, it's what distinguishes us from everyone else.

Oh man, what is that old joke? Canada could have had it all. British culture, American technology, and French cuisine. Unfortunately, it all got jumbled and they ended up with British cuisine, American culture, and French technology.

I heard it as French culture, British politics and American industry yielding American culture, French politics and British industry.

Still funny (and disgustingly true), either way.

I recognise no 3,9 and 10. Not sure why they put an airport on the list though.

There are more English Canadians than French, which means we wait til after the game to surrender.
