You're more than welcome to come over any time and watch. I run it on three different machines. A P4 1.8ghz machine with 394mb ram, a 850mhz athalon with 256, and a 1.066ghz celeron also with 256. Each and every machine it takes two to three times as long to load as IE or Avant. Hell, there are times I double click on the Firefox icon, and it won't even load.
If it weren't for the takeover ad blocking, I wouldn't use it. I can get everything else in other browsers that are IE based.

I use Opera. it has a little trouble with cookies, but it's awesome in every other aspect.

@ Fireball - Actually, no, they are different, kind of. Mozilla is the basic model, outdated, Firefox is the new one. It has more features that the regular Mozilla doesn't have . . .
I am simply too bloody lazy to upgrade . . . and don't see the point . . .

Well, Mozilla Firefox may be slow, but I find regular old Mozilla to be relatively speedy. Of course, I am comparing it to my Internet Exploder, which took ages to load.
I blame it fully on Telus, my ISP. Such a Piece of Crap . . .

*cough* No, I meant same as in I'm in the same situation, I'm too lazy to upgrade to FireFox, too... Don't see the point, either, I think Mozilla loads fast enough, and I generally like it. Will have to upgrade once it gets buggy and no-one fixes it though.
@RealGoober: Mozilla loaded faster than MSIE for you? Wow, thats weird. Mine are close, but IE always loads faster because its native to the OS etc...

I got some kinda virus thing with Internet Exploder, and it simply son't open, and when it does, I get pop-up madness!!! Also, it is VERY slow . . . Mozilla is ages faster . . .

@ Fireball - I wouldn't be surprised if my Internet Exploder was chock full of Spyware. I tried it just yesterday, and it opened - for 2 seconds, then got the error, and did the close thing . . .

I have both, use them regularily. Hasn't done a thing.

I use Firefox because of the built in tabbed browsing. Its great. I know you can add it on to Internet Explorer but I rather have it built in. Performance wise I was suprised to see that Internet Explorer was faster. One of the reasons I tried other browsers was that I heard Firefox and Opera were blazing fast and IE was slow. Well I've tried them on mulitple desktops and IE was quicker. None of them are slow or even differ by a large margin.

@GA: Well, IE always launches faster because it is native to the OS, while Mozilla nad Opera have to build their own OSes and run in them, thus taking a longer time to load and taking up more CPU Power.

Mozilla and Firefox have to run an extra layer of code over the regular Windows explorer.exe in order to allow the program to execute, similar to having to run a Touring Program in order to make your Turing applet execute. While IE doesn't need another layer, since it works with the allways-running explorer.exe. Thus, since Mozilla has to run that extra layer, it takes longer to run, and it takes more CPU Power...
