What is the longest game you have ever played?

Race for computers and build tinternet Lemon if you can, then nuke him ;)

It really isn't that bad. I'm about 60% through the game and I haven't even been DoWed yet. I'm a financial monster, and I'm one place shy of the top spot on the leaderboard, but I'm going to lose this one. Pacal has started the space ship already, and he has all of the casings built. In 1850! That's a record for my games. I haven't even made it to rocketry or fission yet. :(

Oh well. It's educational. And it was fun, too. I was getting bored with Noble.

You haven't been DoWed on yet? How do u do that? (suck up to the A.I's?) Hmmm.... even though I'm on Noble I think the only way to win this one (or at least offset Pacal a couple years) is to DoW on him. If you do that you probably don't even need to invade, he'll start gearing up to war giving you some time to tech your way to his level.

Anyways... 1850! That is really early (for Prince). The only time I myself have ever got that far a head was in a Noble game (I was playing Darius on 34 Earth Map coincidentally :) ) and I had Modern Amor in the 1800's, I won a Diplo victory through the UN in 1840 something.

Edit: Lol, ParadigmShifter you beat me to it :D

I agree with ParadigmShifter, but I also have a question Lemon: If you're such a "financial monster", why are you lagging in tech? Or are you referring to gold, and not commerce? If you're swimming in gold, buy an army and pick your teeth with that bone through his nose. Heck, you should have killed hime off ages ago just so you wouldn't have to listen to his hideous diplo music anymore. :D

Well, it's a wee bit embarrassing, but I got so excited about being able to run the slider at 100% for the first time ever, that I neglected to build enough science buildings and fell behind as the techs got more expensive. Also, I was trying to keep my military up. I spent a lot on upgrades. Only one of my cities was really good at production this time, so I had a hard time building units and buildings in the rest.

I think I know what I did wrong, and I'm going to go back about 150 turns and try a couple of things. I did beeline computers and I lost out on the Internet by 1 turn. I also missed the UN by 2 turns, and nukes got banned (I didn't defy :crazyeye:).

But this time, I'm taking out Pacal earlier. :goodjob:

Actually, backing up and replaying from an old save is something that I like to do alot when I'm trying out new strats and approaches; so I think that's a brilliant idea. :goodjob:

Just out of curiosity what're the details of the game? Maybe you could post this with some screenies in a new thread; I'd be interested in seeing how far along your game has come.

Happy civing. TTFN.

I like to play massive huge maps with 17 or more civs, so my games always last long. Longest I've played is probably 24 hours strait on a weekend with bloodstruck crack withdrawel eyes.

But my longest game was probably also my best game. It was Carter's scenerio with the Giant Earth Map Mod with 24 civs. I played as Byzantium, utulized the Imperialistic trait with a full out land grab blitz early on, then eventually the game turned into an all war game when I was attacked. So I was DoWed on in the classical era and never had peace again for the rest of the game, basically. My culture vassalized my neighbors Germany and Rome, then I proceeded to plow over and capitulate every other civ that ever made themselves an enemy and conquered most of Europe, all of Scanidinavia, all of Asia, all of Austrailia, all of the middle east, nearly all of Africa, and even a little bit of North/Central America.

I won via Domination victory, and without a doubt it was my greatest game that I had ever played. I vassalized half the civs in the game and took 70% of the worlds land/population. No army stood a chance against me. I wasn't aggressive because I was the one who got DoWed on all the time, but I was aggressive in making sure that was their death warrent being signed. Stupid LH's.

That game took me about close to a month to play. I'm guessing the game time might have been around 150 hours, though I'd have to check the save to be sure. Maybe I'll attach a save later so you can see. :goodjob:

I'm currently playing a huge Highland (ridgelines, seas) map with 15 other civs.
Its awesome. All those games I stuck with continents or archipelagos and never knew what I was missing. Its a whole new experience with very limited water importance.

... and it takes forever. Especially going for the conquest victory. (disabled dominance, diplo, and culture) ;)

Well sounds like a fun game! I myself have never played on a Highlands map before, though when I do, I would play as Mongolia :D.

Anyways, when you finish tell us how long it took you, maybe you can beat the record (at least on this thread), which is I believe is 150 by RulerOfDaPeople.

Highland maps are bigger than normal all land maps... it gets pretty tedious going for domination ;)

Celts are good on that map type as well.

I don't go for domination. For MY tastes, its an unsatisfying substitute for conquest. :)

And while the Highland map does have insane amounts of land, it helps if you put the water level to seas. Seas + tons of mountains = not as much usable land as it looks. I think Great Plains would have substantially more usable land.

In my current game I'm using Romans under Augustus because I'm a wonder hound. I'm playing on Noble (cough*pushover*cough) because frankly I get enough challenge at work, and the AI makes a great punching bag.
