What is your Age?

Age 27
Male
Los Angeles, CA
I had to double my memory from 4 megs to 8 megs in order to run the first Civilization without crashing.

One thing to remember in this thread is that this is a survey of CFC forum-goers - which may not be entirely reflective of the broader Civ-playing community.
However, I'd be guessing it's still a good guide. Thanks Gemini for the thread and all the updating : )

Haha, nice try Henry. We already know you're 13 from the last age thread. :p

There's been computers in my house as long as I can remember. The first game I remember playing was Frogger. I can't even remember on what system, it may have been the Tandy Color Computer, or the TSR80, I'm not sure since I was so young and my dad had bought computers from the Altair on up. I started playing Civ1 in high school.

I'm going to go ahead and give the demographics of other people I know who play Civ since they don't post here.

My dad, 52
My boyfriend, 33
My best friend's son, 10 who I started on CivIII two years ago.

oh yes, and my Grandfather 82 who's no longer here, but used to play Civ1

Same location (:D)

We've played them all.

Lots of Canucks here!

not sure if someone else asked yet, but can you please explain in the first post what a rayleigh distribution is and why it can be applied to game player ages?

Probably this was done before, but I am curious what is the average age and distribution of civ players.
Location, gender would be informative too :)
How long you have been playing?
Male 33 yrs old, Paris, France.
Played civ1, civ2, colonization, ctp1, civ3 (quickly kicked off), ctp2, civ4.
I didn't mentionned simcity 1 and 2000 but maybe could be in the same "gaming attitude".

Playing since... ooch... 1989 ? 1990 ? 1991 ? Something by there.

Gemini - is it reasonable to start the Rayleigh curve at age zero ? I would have thought that the probability of getting a player even at age 5 was astoundingly low, let alone that of having a poster at that age. At age 10, yes: my sons would have had great fun playing Civ1 at that age, if it had existed then. I'd also like to know the basis on which you are constructing the curve.
