I have always had an average PC so I often find myself hoaking through the bargain bins in Game or EB looking for a nice game. And I have found some classic! Like MonkeyIsland I&II, Full Throttle & The Dig - For £15!

Or last week i bought Commandoes, Red Baron 2 and Homeworld for a TENNER!! And Homeworld is now one of my favourite games :)

So what is your best bargain??

(please, no tales of copied games. You just aren't a true bargain-hunter if you have to do that;) )

I can't exactly call this a bargin but two stores in my town had made me a lot of money untill one went out of buisness.
but I could buy games at one store for about 5-10$ each, depending on then system, (back in the day of NES and SNES) anyway I would go a few blocks down the street and sell those games I just bought for about 10-15$ each. Until the second store went out of buisness that was like a steady paycheck of about 10-30$ a week ;)
I wonder why that second store that I sold the games to went out of buisness  while the first one is still here today  ;) :goodjob:

I bought Civ 2 for £6 when I first bought my Playstation and didn't buy another game for it for two months. It should be noted that I got HBO Boxing free with it and it stayed in the wrapping until one of my mates asked what it was like. I said he could have it but after playing for a couple of games he declined my kind offer. Damn! I'll have to use it on one of those part exchange game offers. The only game I've bought on release price for my PSX has been THPS3 and I get all my other games on budget or as gifts. :goodjob:

Ok then beat this, I picke up Avalon Hill's Dimplomacy for £2.50

Well, i don't really have a best bargain, but if you would allow me to threadjack for a while i can tell you about my worst bargain.

Civ 3 costing me 400 crowns IIRC. 1 day later my brother downloaded the game.

Hmm, I bought AoE gold edition for $10, and got Ceasar III for $5, both good bargins.

Piad $20 bucks for MGE, but considering all the use I got out of it, it was a bargin.

I have to go with that on Civ2 for Playstation. I was lookin for a fun game with lots of replayability and I must say that is my current ruler for replayability... Paid $25.

In that same vein, DW3 has given me and a buddy two 8 hour + runs of fun, and more to come. Permanent eye damage be damned!

Lookin back, the arcades I went to were some of the worst bargains for me...

Picked up Panzer General, Allied General, Fantasy General, & Star General four pack for $20.

MGE for $9.95:D

civ 2 and quake 2 both bought for about £20 then never really leaving my computer. unfortunately my reflexes appear to have gone and i can't play games involving shootin' any more

I believe I got the same set of games, though IIRC the set I got included Day of The Tentacle also. The set had five CD's and MI 1 & 2 were on the one CD. I think Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis was the other game. All for $30 (Australian Dollars).

Bargain.

Civ 2 has got to be the next best bargain I've got. I bought it from a local department store which was having a half price sale on everything. Half price for a game that I've played for over five years, and will probably continue to play for years to come.

Bargain.

One can always find great games for cheap at used game stores. Ninja Gaiden (NES) was $5. Final Fantasy 1 for $20. Civ2 costed only $9, and, like many others here, it's stayed put on my PC. ;)

I bought EA John Madden's NFL 99 for £1.99

Can't say I've ever had a bargain, but once I had some really bad luck.

Paid NZ$90 for the first Gran Turismo on psx, then a week later it came out platinum. :( That pissed me off.

I usually tend to wait for the price of games to lower before buying them. Except in certain circumstances. Like paying full price for civ3. :) Even paid NZ$140 for ff9 when it was released. I have no idea why I did that, I must have been insane at the time. Did enjoy the game though.

Civ2 Gold has to be the best bargain even though I purchased it 2 or 3 times from losing the CDs! :) The hours I got out of them more than covered the cost, though.

A few bargains I've seen (though I haven't bought all listed here).

Got System Shock II for $AU20

Got Caesar III for $AU20

Found Red Faction for $AU20

Found Age of Empires free from cereal box (full version, I kid you not. Too bad I spent $50 on it four or five years ago)
