As a fellow practitioner my opinion must necessarily concur with that of my esteemed colleague Dr Null. (And I like to play Zak in SMACX too, curious...)

Second that. I also like Persia under Darius for it's synergetic traits, fantastic UU and good UB. and the Greeks under Pericles for it's early tech and culture lead.
