Just as the title says, what trait must your leader need to have you you to play the game? Or at the very least, what trait do you really, really like to see in a leader?

Philosophical, lets you get more Great People, so you can bulb, settle, start GA's, build more wonders with GE's, or whatever else you want to do. I like building Pyramids and Hanging Gardens in a city early and an engineer specialist and pumping em out and putting my Great Artist wonders all in one city then getting great artists and settling em around for culture wins. Very easy when you can do that. Not hard to have a military in a wonder economy when you have great engineers coming out to save you lots of turns.

Creative is nice, since you don't have to worry about culture, but I really like them all except for expansive. The increased worker production is nice, but I never really saw the need for +2 :health:.

Eh, it comes in handy in the Industrial era, or if you start with en-masse Flood Plains. Your right though, in most situations it doesn't come in that handy. Now, if it provided +1 :food: in every city...

Anyway... come on, vote people! 83 views and only 19 votes?

Philosophical is my favourite followed by charismatic and spiritual.
I'm ok with financial, organised, creative and industrial.
Not a big fan of the others although I play leaders with them from time to time.

CHA - suped up, flexible, game-long warmonger power, suped up early economy due to what basically amounts to +2 :).

Some traits help warring directly, or economy directly. CHA helps both, and is incredibly easy to take advantage of on both counts (build units and...monuments). How important is the +2 :)? Early in the game, it keeps up with all other economy traits on many maps (work 2 extra cottages or other tiles instead of less maintenance or the financial commerce bonus). In fact, it may even be the difference in optimal tech path priority (currency or CoL before monarchy).

After a while the +2 :) matters less, but it is never insignificant. The early game is where advantages can snowball, and the economy advantage of CHA really shines there. Of course traits like philosophical, financial, and even ORG offer more to the economy than CHA after a while, by then the player will likely have the option to use the other aspect of the trait - war.

CHA is nice among war traits in that ALL military units benefit from it regardless of type. CHA is the hands-down best trait for mounted troop attacks, but has the flexibility to strengthen any unit - even ships or things like tanks - very easily.

The flexibility and raw benefit are very potent and mix well with all other traits.

Creative. Would have gone for Fin or Org a while ago, but I find it handy in the early game not to have to go for Stonehenge.

Creative is surprisingly often dubbed as weak trait, despite that it was really good even before the added bonuses on some Warlords patch.

voted financial but only because i am just now beginning to realize its
    "POWAH!"

(yeah thats the way power is spelled if it REALLY rules)

financial lets me keep up with AI teching on the higher difficulties (emp) or at least doesnt let me fall behind too much. A hybrid economy with foodrich specialist cities and cottage cities combo will work great if you slave the lighthouse and colossus to boot.

get that combo going and you will outtech anything if yr financial. lots of coastal cities and you can coach all the way to alpha centauri.

but im sure in a few weeks i will have fallen in love with another trait.
    I love this game :)

Financial is best by far IMO, it's useful in every game, whether you're going for culture, war, expansion, or just teching, and it starts out great and never stops being awesome. It's useful for any economy, and makes coastal cities really worth getting, coast tiles are like non-financial unimproved villages.

I like others too, imperialistic is always fun, as is philosophical, creative is really useful, I never liked spiritual until my last game where it would have taken 5 turns of anarchy to switch from PS to Rep between wars, Industrious is really fun, especially in the early game, hell all of them are really useful. I guess it's just preference really, but no one can deny that financial is great.

I like organized. I usually have a huge empire so the reduced upkeep and cheap courthouses are major.

Financial's pretty solid. Charismatic gives Monuments a purpose, and gives better soldiers for less effort. And therefore Carthage is one of my favorites :)

The real beauty in Spiritual lies in switching between slavery and caste system. Anytime I am spiritual I use caste system, then go into slavery for like 4-6 turns and whip stuff across my empire. Then switch back. On marathon spiritual gives you the ability to run caste system and slavery at the same time practically.
