What is your favourite/least favourite wonder to start next to?

The wonder I love starting next to the most is Zhangye Danxia because you don't need to work it for the bonus; you just start accumilating 2 great general and 2 great mercant points from turn 1 without needing to build either district (almost means you will likely be the first 2 generals and merchants before nayone else get's their first), and especially as a more naval/harbour focused player; I will never say no to free great merchants and generals which I otherwise would never get!

Mount Roraima is a close second to Zhangye Danxia for the sheer amount of faith and science. (As Bite said; anything that gives you faith early on is defeinatly worth investing in for your pantheon.)

Worst, as for most of us, is the White Cliffs of Dover which is a shame for me as a Brit. It's always in such an akward place where you can never get the most out of it and always feels like a waste of space. I've never found it in a place that gives you ample food in order to sacrifice 2 citizens to work it, and in costal cities you really need as much land as possible for districts; let alone the fact the to me it's a eyesore too; just 2 flat and featureless yellowly tiles (should be hilly and green at the very least) with a slightly different colour for the cliffs...

I am going to bet, that whatever the Bermuda Triangle does in the upcoming DLC (which I think will be something bad), it will still be better then owning the White Cliffs of Dover.

Favorite is Crater Lake, simply because it's my favorite natural wonder in real life. By far the most beautiful place I've ever been. (Seriously, if you can get there, go!) I'm still dreaming about playing Russia and starting next to Ubunsur Hollow, but it hasn't happened yet.

As everyone else has pointed out, White Cliffs of Dover are useless and not even that pretty.

The Cliffs of Dover is clearly the worst natural wonder in the game and disappointingly even Firaxis didn’t put that much effort into it. Unlike the other wonder it has no unique graphics, it’s just a white version of the regular cliffs...

I don't think the Cliffs of Dover the worst wonder in the game when the Eye of Sahara is still out there. +3 culture from working a Cliffs of Dover tile early game is at least something to speed through the first few civics, even if it sacrifices some growth.

There's nothing to do with the eye of sahara except use it as an adjacency bonus for a holy site. And it blocks improvements being built on it as well.

I'd second Zhangye Danxia as my favorite for the quick GP, followed by Eyjafjallajökull or Mount Roraima for the super tiles.

At the very least, the Eye of the Sahara is better than base flat desert tiles (outside of the one Petra city on the map and the few civs that can actually improve those tiles) and can make for an easier national park. I'd put it a bit ahead of the Cliffs, though not by much.

I hate the promotion-giving wonders since I have to micromanage all my units and keeping tab on which ones have the promotion and do that logistics shuffle.

Mod idea: "Having X within your city borders makes all your units start with Alpine promotion".

There is one mod like this already. It also adds another natural wonder that grant all units ability to traverse woodland/jungle with less movement cost.

There is only one king: Zhangye Danxia. I alwayd rush it with 1st expansion even if not very close. Simply because it is Gamechanging. Yes, capital G.
2 of 3 first geneals = art of war for culture boost + easy conquest. Propably 3-4 first merchants = hopefully 2 trade routes and quite some cash

long long nothing else, buy maybe HaLong would be 2nd

The worse- eye of sahara. gives nothing and to place +4 holy site you have to buy useless desert tiles

I hardly ever see the Eye of the Sahara, and when I do it's just making desert tiles slightly better, and odds are I wasn't looking to settle there anyway. The Cliffs of Dover have screwed a few otherwise beautiful city spots for me.

Like no matter what you think the reaction to seeing a natural wonder should be, from "meh" to "oh nice" to "yay I win the game" I don't think anyone is looking for "@$#@$ I wish that didn't exist."

I have the Eye of the Sahara higher then the Cliffs of Dover, but both are at the bottom.
EotS is higher for me because you can get 2x +4 adjancey holy sites and a national park (or 3x +4 adjacenty holysites) and is generally going to be in a land city that dosen't need to worry about the scarcity of land tiles for districts, wonders and tile improvements.
CoD on the otherhand can only have 1x +4 adjaceny holy site (or just 1 national park) and is almost always going to be in a costal city where you on average only half to a third the amount of tiles to use for districts.

Eye of the Sahara can be turned into a pretty strong tile with Petra, so I don't always mind if I'm near it.

Cliffs of Dover should have their yields on the ocean tile and buildable on, or at least able to be made into a national park.

The thing is it is useless till Petra, and that "pretty strong Petra" is just +3 hammers in total. Added yields from tech comes to late to matter. No comparison to other desert wonders. Also if you start next to EoS it also means your starting location is rather poor, not everybody wants to start near big desert

I would still rather have 3 desert hills then the eye of the sahara. They both yeild the same with or without petra, but one can be improved with mines and other cannot be improved. (Apprently has bonus production and science. But this must be a myth because in my 3,400hrs of playing Civ6 I've yet to see that wonder provide anything more the 1 production each :P)

The science comes late, in the atomic age.

I'd take the Eye over 3 desert hills with or without the mines if only because at least I'm getting adjacency bonuses and a national park out of it.

Favorite: on immortal or higher: Dead Sea. It nearly makes your troops immortal next to it, especially on those early border cities you really want to keep. Else, Vesuvius gets increasingly great yields throughout the game. I wouldn’t complain about starting near it in any game.

Least favorite: Galápagos Islands. At least cliffs of Dover are useful for a holy site. Those islands are near useless for anything, and usually are a stretch to even reach.

I was joking about the science yields; but it's true that I've always completed my games before reaching the global Atomic Era so personally have never seen them.

EDIT: But it's true what you say about the holysite adjacencies... I do love my faith in my games so I guess I can agree that it would be better then just 3 desert mines.
